And in other news, the House, also today, voted in favor of lowering the age of consent for transgender surgery from 18 to 5. (Some of the folks here may need to energize their sarcasm detector.)

Well hell if all we have to do is uptrend age, why don't we just make it illegal to kill people, shoot up elementary schools, buy guns without a background check, or with the red flag laws, be a child molester and everything bad. I mean everyone follows the laws right?

What about the age to decide if you are a man or woman?

What about the age to vote?

What about the right to drink booze?

I would like a little consistency please.

I'm ok if we move everything to 21. Including the military.

I am sure they can possess it as long as in the company of an adult. They cant purchase one. It is not a law yet. Tell your son he is okay to stock up on ARs, AKs, etc... The bill still has to go thru a few more processes but it will die in the Senate.....hopefully.

I’ve always believed if you were old enough to be in service and defend your country, you were old enough to carry a firearm.

Then join the service. You will get training with that firearm (and in the Army & USMC annual requalifications), multiple levels of supervision when you employ that firearm, and it will be locked in an armory when you are not in the field training or on a deployment. AND if you have any mental instability issues, i.e. suicide ideations, you will not have access to that weapon in the secure armory. Otherwise, wait until you are 21.

NRA is trash, but you are out of your mind if you think America is rooting for more gun control.

frick the NRA. Can you define a semi-automatic weapon for me? Would you be surprised to learn a lot of shotguns are semi-automatic? I’m sure these legislators have no clue.

People voted with their wallets over the last decade with massive gun sales at a rate never before seen. You think they're just going to say, "Whoopsie! I made a mistake, Tex. Come take my gun." If your side is so confident, let's put up the issue to a national referendum. See where that gets you.

Do people really believe that 18-year olds are incapable of discerning that shooting people is wrong?

If someone is 18 and still doesn't realize shooting people is wrong, they probably won't learn it in the next three years.
