If the contents of the report are demonstrably false then it absolutely is fair game for a lawsuit.

How are we getting around sovereign and/or legislative immunity?

And that’s assuming that everything in the report is truly demonstrably false?

Don’t feel bad, Mollie. None of the people commenting on how horrible Matt is in any of the TD threads have bothered to read it either.

What I love about figs like you is that you’re oblivious to how everyone views you. You’re just a smug prick simping for the system and laughing up your sleeve that it’s Matt Gaetz who’s being smeared. You understand immediately that it’s a smear but you lend it credibility because your entire life is wrapped up in you making money through maneuvering through this shitty system.

“Oh, they destroyed your life with lies and smears? Good luck. You can sue and it won’t work and I don’t care.”

In the ethics report, Gaetz is accused of paying his long-term girlfriend for sex. None of that is made up. Do you think it’s a good thing to release a report like that? Does it set good precedent? Would you like to see more of it in the future?

Don’t know if it should have been released or what kind precedent it sets. I think anytime there is an ethics inquiry the findings should be released they shouldn’t try and hide information that could sway the voters opinion of a candidate. What he did was illegal, but it would be hard to prove in court. He tried to get around them releasing the information by resigning the day before it was supposed to be released, so he knew it was going to be bad.

He is accused of paying multiple women for sex. In his text messages he talks about drug use and paying women for sex. It’s not that he paid for sex and did drugs with a few young women it’s at least a dozen. One party it was 4 or 5 girls and 2 guys

She was 17 but she had a STATE ISSUED ID that said she was over 18.

That's why there was no way even the Garland DOJ could prosecute him. This is nothing but a smear job to the highest order. They've already won, but now they want to burn the political corpse of Gaetz.

Perhaps he can still rise from the ahes though. Wewill see.

Gaetz seems like a fun guy. Look forward to him being in the Senate. I'll vote for him.

My understanding is Vivek and Musk are going to release info on all tbe real criminals who used the Congressional slush fund to buy off their victims.

He isn’t being charged. Nothing is being taken from him. He doesn’t have a right to face the committee in that context.

The fake fricking investigation was conducted without due process, by government actors. Those government actors had a duty to protect the confidentiality of the findings, especially since the findings of the report are basically, someone accused him of this and we believe them even though there is no other evidence. That committee had no jurisdiction or legal ability to release the report now that Gaetz is no longer in Congress. The sole purpose of releasing the report is when an ethical breach is determined and the House issues a sanction. He had a right to due process in the sham of that investigation, including the right to conduct cross examination, to examine evidence and to confront his accusers.

They abused it. Abused privileges can be waived.

Gaetz has a fundamental right to privacy that was disregarded by government actors, and Kevin McCarthy. That interest was invaded. With malice. They publicly disclosed true facts they knew would be embarrassing and in a manner caculated to be embarrassing. They also publicly disclosed true facts with the intent to place him in a false light.

These interests are legally protected in tort by these government actors behaving outside the scope of their authority, communicating confidential facts they don’t have the legal authority to disclose.

They can all frick off and I hope he sues them all for malicious prosecution, abuse of a legal process (the fake investigation), and the above torts of invasion of privacy.

I’ve personally avoided summary judgment and settled similar cases in far less egregious circumstances. I hope every member of that committee and Kevin McCarthy get a little bit of East Alabama justice for the actual tortious conduct they engaged in intentionally, maliciously and wrongfully. I almost want to go get admitted in Florida.

He may not have known she was 17, but paying someone to have sex is illegal. Providing alcohol to a minor is illegal. Giving drugs and having drugs is illegal.

He broke several laws and could be prosecuted, but it might be hard to get a conviction. I don’t know if any of these are felonies

Giving gifts to people you are having sex with, or paying them to travel to see you is not illegal.

If you take a woman out to dinner and then she has sex with you, is that illegal? Even if you’re only buying her dinner so she will have sex with you?

If you buy a woman an expensive handbag after she has sex with you, is that illegal?

If you take a woman on a trip and pay for it and then she has sex with you, is that illegal? Or if she paid for the trip to come to see you and then you have sex and you pay for her to fly home, or for her Uber, or for breakfast-
Is that illegal?

This is stupid. This whole thing is stupid.

I feel like you’re throwing around a lot of legal jargon that may not apply here. It’s not a criminal case or civil case. I don’t even know if it’s really an administrative proceeding. Do House rules require due process in the form of a trial here? This seems more like J6 kangaroo court garbage. I don’t like that it happened, but there isn’t much you can do about it because it’s a phony proceeding.

What fundamental right to privacy was breached? Did they illegally obtain his texts? What laws were broken in releasing this info?

Deflects from Biden Day 1 mental incompetence
Deflects from gay parents raping and pimping their adopted kids
Provides basis to attack Trump for nominating him

None of that sounds illegal, but giving someone $400 cash after having sex is prostitution and that is illegal.

Giving a 17 year old that you think is 18 alcohol is illegal.

Buying drugs, having drugs, and giving someone drugs is illegal.

It doesn’t matter who did it it is still wrong and illegal. Gaetz just got caught after the fact. It’s not hearsay when it is text messages

I've ignored the report

I'm assuming they took the same "evidence" everyone else, including actual investigating authorities had - made some leaps and reached some extralegal conclusions that the actual justice system wouldn't/couldn't reach - am I close?
