Honestly, if RBG was a Conservative judge, the MSM would have a running clock on...

...the last time she was seen alive.

100% Fact if the Senate was a majority Democrat with a Democrat President.

To prove my point, the MSM had a running death toll of American soldiers killed during the Bush Presidency, and it magically disappeared when Obama took office.

Not a fact. Sorry.

They'd be camped outside the house, all cameras and lights. Everyone would know where this judge lives and how many bowel movements are accomplished each day. There would be no clock needed.

This would be all they talked about every single day with a round table demanding proof of life. You are correct. Let's not forget the Where's Melania obsession

Persecution complex -- check.

Rehnquist missed the oral arguments in almost every case during the entirety of his LAST YEAR on the bench.

You should find something else to obsess/bitch about.

And I believe he also abstained from voting in those cases where he had to miss the arguments.

Rehnquist

Conservative Justice during a Republican Presidency.

Not the same situation as now. Nice try though.

Explain why that makes any difference.

Where exactly did you get your belief? He cast deciding 5-4 votes in cases where he missed oral arguments.

Wrong. He voted on all of them in which his vote would make a difference in the final ruling.

In fact, he wrote the majority opinion on several cases for which he was absent from oral argument.

Little known fact. Oral argument is not very important at this level. Trial court? Yes, very important, because the judge has usually not even read your motions and briefs.

At the SCOTUS level, they rule on the briefs ... which they and their clerks have reviewed in excruciating detail. Oral argument is just posturing.

CBS News
quote:

Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist has bowed out of voting in some of the Supreme Court cases he missed this fall while receiving treatment for thyroid cancer, a court spokeswoman said Monday. Rehnquist, who has been absent from the bench for nearly two months, will not vote in cases that were heard in November, unless the remaining eight justices are deadlocked. He does plan to participate in the cases argued in December, Supreme Court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said.

I remember during the Bush years the news was constantly showing the “misery index” for Americans, would have little corner graphics for days at a time.

Surprised they have trotted that back out for Trump

Yeah, he did say he would recuse himself. BUT HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD RESERVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE ON 4-4 DEADLOCKED CASES.

What difference does it make if he doesn't vote in cases where his vote won't make a difference.

That was a bullshite announcement which meant exactly nothing - except to dolts who they were trying to fool.

The difference between Rehnquist and now is the media is ten times worse.

Anybody who can't see that is a god damned moron.
