Not a Marine, but it sounds like a stupid change.
On the other hand, I have seen some female Marines. Gender-neutral references may keep some poor recruit out of hot water for accidentally using "sir" for a female drill instructor.

The Navy had something recently to get rid of "man" in all their titles, aka Corpsman, Radioman, etc and their was a big push for a project I know of - then that high ranking Officer retired and the next one came in and nixxed all that crap.
That'll probably happen here too.
The issue becomes when these Sr. Officers are on their last few years of service and they wanna leave their legacy.

virtually every stupid progressive social policy that the Marine Corps is jumping in bed with currently is all about keeping the money coming in for the commandant's force design bullshite. CMC and SMMC have become complete social justice warriors for the benefit of their legacy. i'd like to think that once he is gone, things might get better, but I have no doubt the next CMC will be just the same.

that's not how recruit training works. "poor" recruits will be yelled at and fricked with regardless of if they call a DI the wrong gender.
there is really zero reason for this other than earning woke social credit with congress.
