I’m just pissed that at this monument Trump has all the wind at his back and the GOP isn’t doing shite. The House’s immigration bill needs to pushed right now while the public is on Board, criminals are being arrested and the Dems are reeling.

Right now.

Let's pump the brakes and see how many members of the House and Senate are left on the Hill in a few months. Step #1 was to make the country safe by securing the borders and removing illegals. This step is making great progress each hour that passes. Step #2 is now kick started with a completely new DOJ.

Yeah…we’ll see what we get from our esteemed Congress.

Wait….let me guess.

A gazillion dollar 20,000 page omnibus continuation signed at the last minute to prevent a government shutdown …. but a promise to do it right the next time.

Why does there need to be “a bill”?

Just enforce the laws already on the books.

To avoid what happened the last 4 years?

There has to be some way to tighten this up that can’t just be erased when a Dem comes into power.

Why do they need a border bill?

Because everything being done now by Trump is either by Executive Order or presidential discretion, which means frick all longterm if it can be undone just the same.

No, everyone is talking about the BUDGET, which we haven't actually had for how many years?

Where’s the Bill on Immigration?

What part of "we don't need a bill on immigration," do people not get? Enforce the existing immigration policy and allow ICE, INS and the Border Patrol to do it their jobs. It's that simple.

Everything else... You realize he just yesterday got his agency appointments confirmed and in place. He's only been back for a few weeks and has been kicking serious arse. You can't do everything and fix everything in a few days.

2 years to be safe. There’s no guarantee any of this can get done after the midterms.

Not sure why this post was downvoted to Hell?

Because y'all are already assuming Democrats will sweep mid-terms. Pussies.

While technically correct, this all needs to be codified by midterms. So 23 months instead of 47 remaining to get it done.

And in 12 months a lot of Republicans are going to be even less reliable, especially if the midterms end up looking daunting

Time is of the essence for any big ticket, long-lasting impacts.

Well when you have such intellectual stalwarts behind the scenes like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell what would you expect?

Contrary to opinions in this thread, I a think we will have to wait for after the midterms to get everything we want done. The current house and senate is riddled with dims masquerading as Republicans. Once the RINO's are voted out we will have a truly Republican majority.
