Here Are Leading Nations’ GDP Losses Per The IMF, October 2020

US 4.3%
Japan 5.3%
Germany 6.0%
Canada 7.2%
France 9.8%
UK 9.9%
Italy 10.6%
And Europe is on the cusp of reinstating lockdowns in the face of surging chinavirus numbers.
I think Trump has done an outstanding job of threading the line between safety and prosperity. The shutdown bought us valuable time. By estimates of the health experts, including Fauci, Trump saved approximately 2 million lives. But Trump also recognizes the damage caused by lockdowns...loss of freedom, surging debts, falling tax revenues, social isolation, mental stress and illness, economic loss, etc...and has been pushing for the whole country to reopen. We cannot stay locked down and he will lead us forward through this virus like a raging bull.

Man, the U.K. got by far the worst return on its lockdown investment
Horrible contraction but still very high numbers

How about a link, especially for the narrative tripe?

Thank God we have Trump, or that would be much worse.

Every one of those countries are "enemies" of China politically and the biggest, most powerful allies of the US..
Any coincidence?
Don't see Russia or China or Iran, etc on that list do we??
Anyone still think this wasn't planned and released on purpose?

And the predicted GDP for the U.S. for the third quarter is 32%. Boom.

China lies, but trust the backlash is bad for them as companies from around the world move out. Russia and Iran are not known for their honesty either.

IMF is in the thread title. Are you too lazy to type in imf.org in your search bar and magically see what appears on their front page?
TexDummy is lazy

And they’re locking down again as chinavirus cases surge.
The worst is not over for them.
Also the virus nearly killed Boris but never stood a chance against Trump’s orange antibodies.

You’re talking about Cuomo

The Caribbean is getting crushed. Not only home countries stopping travel, but the cruise ship industry shutting down so they arent coming, AND a lot of the employees on cruise ships are from the Caribbean and they brought it home and forced all the islands to shut down as well.
Remittances from the states is a huge part of most of the economies, and since most of their relatives in the states are in the service industry, and laid off, that money is not coming home either. Then throw in a few hurricanes, some like Belize (yes in central America but considers itself Caribbean) are hurtin puppies.
Then there is Guyana (who is in South America but considers itself Caribbean as well), well thanks to you oil boys, their economy is gonna grow about 50%.

Yes, I can only imagine the pain being inflicted on our Caribbean brothers and sisters.
Most of those countries are small in size and population and have economies built upon the tourism and hospitality industries.
I have an Italian friend who is a tour guide for a large international travel company. He has been absolutely shattered this year in Italy.

I'm genuinely curious here. What measures do you think the CDC could have taken in the early weeks of March through April that would have changed the outcomes of the pandemic?

Not have completely fricked up the testing?

They resisted outside help from private companies in sequencing the virus and beginning vaccine research even though they struggled to do so.
They also fricked up the first tests and took very long times to locate and fix the mistake.

How did those communist a hoes in Chinrah do?

I have a relative who was part of the CDC pandemic response team - he moved onto a different role prior to the current outbreak. He was sent all over the world to run pandemic containment simulations. He was in Africa during the Ebola outbreak. I had viewed them as the Delta Force or SEAL Team 6 of the CDC. They have instead been a complete failure.
They failed to...
1) provide effective guidance in the early days of the outbreak (they knew what was coming in December/January)
2) completely failed to control the message regarding best practices for prevention and susceptibility
3) created confusion regarding masks, hand washing, etc. one day masks weren’t necessary, the next masks are necessary
They are supposed to be the world leaders in the prevention and management of infectious diseases. After COVID 19, I believe the CDC is a colossal disaster, should be dismantled, and rebuilt from the ground up. They have been a complete and total failure when it counted most.
