If not for the 3/5 Compromise, the United States would never have been founded. In all likelihood, two different nations would have emerged from the 13 former colonies. In that event, George Floyd would never have existed, and Minnesota would still belong to France.
Maybe, but that’s a stretch. There were lots of disagreements that required compromise, and this was only one. Is it possible or even probable that a different compromise would have emerged? I think so.
Also, I want to make sure of where you are going with this question. You DO realize that the slave-holding states WANTED to count slaves (100%) for purposes of representation, but the free-states DID NOT WANT them counted.
In other words, it was power and politics, and NOT a determination by the founders that slaves were 3/5 of a human. (Free Men of Color were always counted 100% by all states and could vote if they owned property.)

Yes. I'm drafting the email now. I'm not letting this go.
I sure wish I knew how to host images so I could show the teacher's response.

"Protests which occurred in the United States during the summer of 2020 after the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor can be partially blamed on the Founding Fathers' handling of the slavery question back in 1789.
Since slavery was legal in every country across the globe at that time, even as Christianity was awakening people to the evil inherent in the institution, it’s unknowable what effect the outlawing of slavery would have had at the time.
Furthermore, the current day victimhood ideology of blacks goes FAR beyond the boundaries of the U.S. (hence the George Floyd riots in far flung nations across the globe). It’s simply a new axis upon which the critical theorists have divided society, to intentionally sow division, break down normative understandings, and spread marxist ideology.
The summer of Floyd and the iconoclasm and riots that followed were just the next step in the marxist cultural revolution.
It would be a more pertinent question to ask if Joseph McCarthy had successfully led the push for quashing Marxism in the U.S. universities, would the George Floyd riots have taken place.

That would depend on the teacher, no?

Then Google "Black Slave owners before the Civil War". He wasn't the only one who owned slaves.
They've recently come out with this talking point of how black slave ownership was almost wholly a matter of freed slaves purchasing their own family members and somehow being legally unable to free them. Of course this is bullshite and makes up an insignificant portion of black slave owners but it's become the go-to deflection.

I’d write an essay for my daughter explaining why this is a stupid fricking premise.
And then i’d tell her to respond the way the teacher wants. This is honestly an opportunity for an invaluable lesson about the world around us.

High school students are not prepared to engage in master’s level historical evaluation. They will simply regurgitate the information they are fed and that which pleases the teacher.
In fact, letting them think that they have enough life experience and gathered information to make meaningful and significant opinions about deeply contextual and contemporary moral questions is actually harmful.
The result, which is the intention, is to make them into halfwit social activists.

Partially because of responses like your own. "Well, this is what the teacher wants to hear so I'll say it."
It's why, I am so against the tactic of using the left's language even when mocking them. Stop using the language of the left. It only moves the Overton Window leftward, even if used in a mocking way. Defend your beliefs and stances. Hell, a 12 year old kid and his parents just did it in Colorado in regards to the Gadsden flag. Stop capitulating to the left.

I could make a better argument about racism with the Harding Street Raid. You'll probably have to look that up because 2019 wasn't an election year, and Houston isn't in a blue state. Oh yeah, and the guilty cop was black and the victims were white. You can just hear the sound of a broom sweeping it under the rug.

Time for a meeting with a teacher who I can only assume has a streak of color not appearing in nature in her hair.
