Bull shite. There is only one city that has issues and that is NYC.
The rest of the country needs to get back to normal life at the end of the month.
How can healthcare lose jobs during a time of war? Makes no sense. But, wait, it does make sense if you realize this shutdown is liberal media created and they don't want it to end to take down Donald Trump.
Trump should have opendend things back up after Easter. Two more weeks sucks for the economy, but at least open it at the end of the month.
Just cancel all travel to and from NYC besides trucks for another month and we will be fine.

Health care is a huge sector and a huge amount of elective care is being deferred. Not surprising or ridiculous.

Appears to be easier said than done. Those folks are running amok in the south..and cue the "its unconstitutional " crowd...followed closely by the "papers, please" crowd.

We’ve basically stopped non emergent or critical medicine either by people choosing not to go to appointments or administrators halting the activity.
I’m surprised we haven’t seen hospitals go bankrupt.
I know rad groups whose business is down 50 percent

Isn't going to happen. Three weeks from now, the numbers are going to make you shite your britches. Why? Because "flattening the curve" only draws this out over time. But hey, yall are the ones who didn't want a proper Quarantine.

You're a moron if you can't understand the reasons.

Private hospitals. Large networks are redeploying in-house physicians to emergent needs.

I am a RN and I'm burning up my vacation time. Haven't worked in 2 weeks

This is why I decided years ago I would work in the ER. They’ll never close. Best job security on the planet.

This is a much bigger category than you’re realizing. Eye doctors, dermatologists, school nurses, podiatrists, and on and on, are either shut down or they are seeing much fewer patients (therefore reducing staff) due to the stay at home orders.
I think it’s going to be hell trying to get an eye doctor or dentist appointment when the quarantine finally lifts!

I already took out dentists, etc.
Many people didn't get the point of my thread at all. During a time of war when there shouldn't be any time to fire or layoff a person they have time to do it.
Hospitals are mostly empty all across the country. At my local hospital the parking lots have been empty for an entire month now.
Sooner than later these people will get a dose of reality and get back to normal operations. They don't even realize they got lied to be the media yet.

Not every doctor and nurse is in whatever field this applies to...think of all the elective surgery doctors, nurses and staffs...plastic surgery for example...that’s been shut down like all other biz.

NOLA has had problems way before COVID-19.
