Wouldn’t diversity be an improvement? It certainly is our strength. Barry decreed it so.

They are as diverse as you can get besides a few baseball players.

Diverse = nonwhite by today’s definition so I’d say they’re pretty diverse.

Is it racist to call schools, HWCU's? If you want to be real that is what they were.

Why any white person would volunteer to attend Southern or Grambling or any of the others is beyond me

Funny thing is there's a white guy in my office who went to an HBCU, and he and I chop it up all the time laughing since I went to a "PWI." Our conversations are next level

They call them "PWIs" (Predominantly White Institutions). Took me dang near half a year to figure it out when I first saw the acronym

I have seen some softball players and baseball players get some pretty sweet deals from an HBCU to play ball...

Must be something to listen to. thanks for sharing that.

They should have to drop the HBCU name and be required to have atleast 50% non black students. Otherwise, racis

then wouldn't that just make them regular colleges? Besides, they have no quota or incentive to meet some diversity number in order to get federal subsidies.

Yes but they should just start with the quarterbacks.

A good friend of mine played baseball at FAMU. I think he was on a minority scholarship, no shite.

They actually offer “minority scholarship” for white people to attend some of them.
Few want to take them up on the offer unless it is to go through a program with seats, like nursing or law, that may not be available elsewhere.

It is my impression HBCU college exist primarily to support the bureaucracy that runs them and that bureaucracy seems to be littered with corruption.
Jackson State was screwing Dion Sanders on his bonus for ticket sales---if you are so sorry and greedy to lie to a man like Sanders that had literally spent hundreds of thousands on improvements to the ground you have no redeeming qualities.
I am ready to tell all these public higher education colleges--not just the HBCUs----they are private and take the state money we give them and give vouchers to potential students and let the schools compete for their funding instead of automatically getting funding from the tax payers.

You would be correct.
Ask Doug Williams about his stints at Grambling, especially how they cut his offer the second time around after leaving his job with the Bucs and how they fricked him on other things resulting in him quitting right before the season started a few years back.
Or just Google “Ralph Slaughter” and SUBR for the crook of crooks.

This is the best post I've ever seen from you on this board.
Well said.
