When you stay in a $1300/night villa, you will be paying a total of $143/night in state, county and local taxes.

Oh, I know. I travel for business. I pay taxes and fees just on hotels and every other new stadium or downtown development across the country.

In New Orleans hotel visitors pay a 16.35% total of taxes and fees, so a $1300 a night suite at the Hotel Monteleone (as an example) that would be taxed at $212.55, which is quite a bit more than in Hawaii.

I’ve been to Hawaii. Wasn’t impressed by their rocky, brown sand.

I first arrived in 1981 stationed at Pearl and up until maybe 15 years ago or so it was still pretty awesome overall. Now I have no desire to return except to visit family, sadly. One party has decimated the place.

Hawaii has some beautiful scenery but it's on par with 3rd world country.
