quote:
Went to the first Tea Party gathering at the Louisiana Capital. Media said it was a bunch of radicals but all I saw were normal average everyday working people.
A few of my friends were going, called me, asked if I wanted to go. Saw a bunch of friends and relatives. About 15 feet from me was an Ex-Governor. After the gathering, my friends wife asked if I ever thought about running for office. She said, you shook more hands, hugged more ladies, and knew more people than the Ex-Governor.
I did have the Lt. Governor ask me one time if I ever thought of getting into politics!
The Tea Party gathering was not bad.

The only reason i might go is to take pictures and gather evidence against them.

No. If I'm going to be walking in the streets with a bunch of strangers, it better be for a real cause, not a pretend one. Virtue signaling for any cause doesn't solve a thing.
Protesting in the streets is what fake heroes mostly do. People who actually stand for a cause and want to make a difference, know what their cause is and why, first of all; and secondly, they understand that shouting into the air doesn't get through to people. Winning people over is a slow, long, and multi faceted process.
These protesters we see, don't even know the facts about the things they're yelling about.

I was going to school in London in 2003 and was wandering through Hyde Park on a fine Sunday afternoon when it was announced that Qusay and Uday Hussein were killed. There’s an area called Speaker’s Corner where folks get on their soapbox and talk about anything. Eventually a crowd of Hajis gathered and got riled up by someone to the point of them chanting “Death to Americans - Long Live Olive Oil”. I didn’t linger around much longer after that.

About 25 years ago, our surrounding neighborhoods protested a zoning change which was going to allow a very large shopping mall to be built among our mostly 1 acre homes (bordering two towns).
We eventually won (for a while), but it wasn't carrying signs and yelling. We got organized, had some volunteer lawyers on our side, and got word out and replaced the boards of both towns in the next election with people who worked against the shopping mall. We had professionals who critiqued the proposal, and found all sorts of stuff being 'white-washed', and brought that to light. It was hard work, and people used their brains, not noisemakers.

I have never been to a protest or plan to go. It’s a waste of my time. Unless I missed it, I have never seen a protest change a politician or judges mind.
