Have there been instances of presidents in the past being a little less than honest when addressing the nation? Do they get called out on it?

The press wants to preform oral on him.

The press should be jailed for their part in the coup.

No. I immigrated to the US from Asia just a few years ago. Haven't seen too many State of the Union addresses. When I was a kid I believed that United States is the greatest country in the world and stuff like politicians lying/corrupt politicians didn't happen here. Now I am only sure about the greatest country part. Not so much about the politicians though.

Dems would answer yes accusing republicans to justify their less than honesty they themselves have the patent on. Everything they stand for hurts the country but you would think listening to them its a perfect system. But to them hurting the majority is perfect when they are in full control to keep the country reeling and they get rich over it.

As someone who has lived here his entire life, the best advice I can give you is to NEVER trust a politician. NEVER.

Unquestionably

Last time one did, the one calling him out was crucified (Joe Wilson).

Fair enough.

Those who got things started back in the late 1700's realized politicians are corrupt everywhere and there was no reason to think ours would be any better. So they specifically designed the Constitution to address this.

This is explicitly discussed in the Federalist Papers, which should be required reading for anyone interested in why things are set up the way they are here.

Although there are other nations that have been reasonably successful, so far as I know the US federal government is the only one specifically designed from the start to survive corrupt politicians.

No. Never. Everything under Obama is new. Never been done before. Aside from him, all politicians are the most upstanding citizens of this wonderful nation.
