So they are wasting time attempting to circumvent the SC
No, they’re removing income as a barrier to entry. And at a cap of $200k HHI, that benefits most of America, all races. They still can’t use race or gender as a determining factor, so now they’ll have less lower income students turning down admissions bc they can’t afford it. Statistically that population will be more minority than the rich students that can afford to pay full price of admissions, but it’s just a statistics game then. It will still be merit based admissions, not DEI based admissions

Diversity of household income at Harvard, among the admitted, is a bad thing?
This would’ve allowed me to go to Harvard for free if I got in, as a white male, which is now more likely due to the Supreme Court reprimand.
Why is this bad? Because the motivation statement mentions diversity?

Because I am guessing they are giving income as an excuse to continue passed practices.

If they discriminate in any way against poor white or Asian kids, they’ll be asking for a multimillion dollar lawsuit.

With their endowment, no one should have to pay tuition.

We all know how this will end for Harvard…

I don’t see how scholarships or grants would have much of an impact on diversity unless cost was preventing more qualified, minority candidates.

Harvard doesn't even play in the SEC.

They even spell out it's to increase diversity
They can base it on economic circumstances and legally get most of what they were looking for with illegal affirmative action. But they'll balk because the radicals are just so scared that a few poor white kids might also benefit. There's not a reason in the world for the Right to oppose this but I guarantee you the Vile Left will be horrified.
