Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is endorsing U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in her race to become Houston's next mayor. Hidalgo is scheduled to officially announce how she will be supporting the congresswoman's campaign at the Mickey Leland Statue inside Mickey Leland Memorial Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to a press release from Hidalgo's office. She will also be joined by Jackson Lee and her supporters in the community.

Jackson Lee previously endorsed Hidalgo during her race for reelection to the county's highest seat last year. Back in March, Jackson Lee unofficially announced her bid for Houston mayor at the City Cathedral Church followed by an official campaign kickoff party hosted at POST Houston in April. Already an established Democratic icon in Houston, Jackson Lee's mayoral campaign marks her return to the city where she first kicked off her political career as a municipal judge. She also served as a member of City Council between 1990 and 1994.

Since 1995, Jackson Lee has served as Texas' 18th congressional district representative. A Houston native, the congresswoman graduated from Yale University with a degree in political science. So far, Jackson Lee has gained endorsements from Harris County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, the Houston Federation of Teachers, and even former professional basketball player Magic Johnson.

The Houston mayoral contest is currently a crowded field seeking to succeed Mayor Sylvester Turner, whose second and final term ends this year. Candidates include Sen. John Whitmire (D-Houston); Councilman Robert Gallegos; Gilbert Garcia, former chairman of the city's Metropolitan Transit Authority; attorney Lee Kaplan; and former city council member Amanda Edwards.

The fact Shelia Jackson Lee was accepted into and graduated from Yale tells one all they need to know about the “top tier” education of Ivy League schools these days.

Those two couldn't spell "IQ" if you gave one of them an "I" and the other one a "Q".

A city full of people so damn stupid, they're like the cat lady who takes in dozens of strays and for the life of her can't figure out where all the cat poop comes from. They deserve it. Let the murder rate climb until it kills all the Dem voters. frick 'em.

If that ignorant bitch actually graduated from Yale, I could have been valedictorian.
She was gifted a diploma.

Teach a man to fish and you'll have a Republican voter for the rest of his life.
Starve a man to death and you'll have a Democrat voter for a hundred years.

SJL was the one who asked NASA if the mars rover could send back photos of the flag Apollo astronauts left.

On the moon.

She’s that stupid.
That privileged.
That arrogant.

Lina was a hair away from losing to a Republican. This doesn’t carry much weight.
