I do. When companies force this shite on you, I bet most aren’t adding it as an extra pto day, they are taking a day away.
Sounds like you have a problem with your employer, not the holiday itself.

Hooray for the day when Lincoln freed no slaves that he actually had jurisdiction over!
Curiosity is a sign of intelligence. I’m not sure what this is.

Only 1 in 1000 southerners owned a slave
It’s been nearly 200 years, we can stop pretending the north invaded the south because every baw had a household full of slaves. Simply untrue, history re-written by the victor

No, I have a problem with made up stupid fricking regional celebrations being forced on everyone.
Why would I expect an employer to award an extra day for a stupid made up irrelevant celebration nobody heard of 5 years ago? They are forced to pretend they give a shite. I think at my company we have 7 black people. I counted. 3 are not even American. I’d be willing bet the other 4 had no fricking clue of this before it being force-fed.

I hate this holiday. It’s impossible to find any King Cobra anywhere!

Can the families of those who served for the Union celebrate as well.

I encourage you to express your convictions to your employer. Truthfully, and assuming you have keys to your office, your boss would likely allow you to work today in lieu of that extra Thanksgiving day. Or you could just use a PTO day for that third day off after Thanksgiving.

No one is questioning your expectations. They are irrelevant.

This may shock you, but black Americans aren’t the only people who are glad that humans are no longer enslaved in this country.

I disagree, I enjoyed playing golf today instead of going to work.

I grew up in a 100k town in north Alabama. My elementary school intergrated when I was in third grade in the 1970s, and I graduated from a 50% black high school. I had never heard of this holiday until after Obama left the White House.
I grew up in Texas. It didn't mean anything then. It was mentioned in Texas History and a few blacks wore juneteenth shirts in the mid 90s when they started wearing all that Africa pride crap. No one ever celebrated it. It was simply a historical footnote.

Just enjoy a day off. Who gives a damn what it’s for, it’s an additional paid day off. Why on Earth would anyone complain about that?

It’s not additional. No one legitimately gives a frick about this celebration. It’s not even the appropriate date to celebrate. Are we gonna now virtue signal and make all regional cultural events a federal holiday?

Additional to what our paid holidays were a few years ago.
I don’t care what anyone is celebrating, I’m not forced to. The virtue signaling comes from the folks crying about it. Crying over a day off. Crazy.
