I believe Dr. Sowell is of intellectual equal to figures such as Edmund Burke and Joseph de Maistre.

Happy birthday, Dr. Sowell.

He is one of the clearest thinkers of the last 150 years. Great man. Great mind.

It's become passé to state -- but he really is a national treasure and I'm not looking forward to losing him.

We live in great times; and in times of some of the great's.

Dr Sowell and Judge Thomas are absolute Icons. Brilliant intellects of our time. We are fortunate.

"One of the sad signs of our times is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce, and canonized those who complain."

One of the first political authors I read. People spend entire careers hoping to write just one political commentary as impactful as his works

Sowell, like Milton Friedman, is on the top five list of banger quotes which distill supposedly complex subjects into things that your great aunt in a trailer can comprehend.

He's a hero to me.

His Stance: Sowell believes that market-based solutions, merit, and personal responsibility are the true paths to socioeconomic progress.

The Conflict: He heavily criticizes race-based social policies (such as affirmative action quotas), arguing that they ultimately inhibit opportunities for African Americans
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Raised in Harlem, New York, he qualified for the prestigious Stuyvesant High School but was forced to drop out at age 16 due to financial hardships and family issues. He later took a high school equivalency exam and qualified for higher education while serving in the military during the Korean War

Outside of his own academic background, Sowell is a prominent researcher and critic of the broader American education system. Throughout his career, he has authored multiple books focusing on the American school system, including Inside American Education and Charter Schools and Their Enemies.

He frequently writes and comments on the importance of school choice, academic standards, and educational monopolies.
