Right. I agree. But I think the strategy for getting them to pay is probably short-sighted. If other NATO countries don't have confidence that we'll keep our side of the bargain, they'll start to make alternative security arrangements. The U.S. will lose leverage over them.

It's because he's very unpopular there. Here's the polling on Trump around the world:

But they love him in Russia!

What leverage do you have when the other party just says frick you we pay what we want not what we agree to?

Try that with your insurance company.

Aren't there protests like this at literally every G20 summit?

Or any international forum for that matter. But yeah... that mean old Trump! (Shakes liver spotted fist angrily in the air)

It's a fair question.

This is a political board. Popular opinion is the lifeblood of political will, at least in democracies. If we want to influence our allies, it helps to persuade them and have them on our side. That's why I care about it.

You cut off the rest of the sentence: quote: He doesn't do rallies in places unfavorable to him since he's become President

It's a trap!!
Comparison of presidential trips from January 20 to July 6:

Trumps been to 16 states, 9 foreign countries, and has plans to visit 4 more!

Obama during this time visited 14 states and 14 foreign countries! He had a lot of apologizing to do outside of America!
