Replying to @JCColtin
Wow. No more east side / west side Manhattan districts. i.e. Nadler and Maloney would live in the same district. NY-11 has a PVI of R+2.6. Good news for Malliotakis.

Quick, messy analysis: this draft map seems devastating for House Dems. Five districts lean Republican. And NY-2, 3, 18, 19 and 22 are all tossups. 4 and 17 could be won by a Republican in a wave year.
That's like *12 of 26* districts in play for the GOP.

A court-ordered map in New York has been adopted, and it’s lights out for Democrats heading into November. While the original Democrat map, which was struck down by the state’s Supreme Court, had a likely outcome of 22 D-seats to 4-R seats, the new map puts as many as 12 seats in play for the GOP.

Hakeem Jeffries
@RepJeffries
The draft redistricting map viciously targets historic Black representation in NY, and places 4 Black members of Congress into the same district.

This tactic would make Jim Crow blush.

The draft map is unacceptable, unconscionable & unconstitutional.

What does this mean for Florida. Is a court going to draw some super dem map since the map in Florida was struck down?

Other than a race baitin' racist?...Unfortunately you are going to be seeing a lot more of him. He has been tabbed as the House Dem leader to take over for Pelosi.

Link to new map

This map is the opposite of gerrymandered and actually makes sense.

So now NYers are fans of Jim Crow? These people play out their lines on some of the stupidest arguments.

I can only dream of the day that these race baiters start having people ignore them. The non-blacks that vote for them realize they are just racists that don't care a single bit about them if not black that think like them.

The Right really needs to push the approach where the political reps do whats best for all, not individual groups within their district/state/city/town/county/etc. What each person does with what their rep does for their constituents as a whole is on said individuals. Aint that hard.

Reps do not have to live in the district they represent. Jeffries is an idiot.

I wonder if this has more to do with his power base. I believe he’s one of the front runners to take over for Pelosi if she leaves. Having a weaker NY delegation is going to hurt him among Dems.

That’s the thing. This new map still reduces GOP seats in NY compared to the 2012-2021 map.

Jeffries is simply REEEEEING because the NY courts shut down their attempt to gerrymander even more D seats than are justifiable from the population.

The New York case is based on New York State law and was decided by a New York state court.

This is why you take small bites instead of the whole cake. The courts might not be as favorable.
