some good news for those folks in here that are concerned about Texas

Governor still needs to grow a set, but this is encouraging!

cBS "News"

quote:

A growing number of sheriffs in Texas say they are refusing to follow a recent executive order requiring masks in public. Governor Greg Abbott's mandate aims to slow the spread of coronavirus, as cases in the state soared past 200,000 on Tuesday.

Police officials in at least nine counties — including Denton, Houston, Montgomery, Gillespie, Upshur, Kerr, Gregg, Nacogdoches and Panola — said they will not impose the ruling with verbal or written citations. Some counties cited staffing issues, while others said the language in the order makes it impossible to police.

Abbott, a Republican who had previously relaxed coronavirus lockdown measures and did not encourage the use of face masks, reversed his course last week to make masks mandatory statewide and limit gatherings of more than 10 people. Cases have exploded across Texas in recent weeks, pushing hospital staff to their limits.

If an additional 9,286 patients hospitalized in a state of 30 million causes widespread panic perhaps there is something fundamentally wroing with the state's healthcare system.

How many of those patients would be in the hospital for something else anyway, since, you know, people are tested entering the hospital for any reason?

going in to have knee surgery? test positive? covid case!!!! OMG

People all over the country are sick of these pointless mandates. That's why beaches/parks/open businesses are packed and that's why the media is pushing its fear message so hard.

WE ARE OVER IT. OPEN IT UP

We know enough about Covid that we should be well past the point where people lament increasing case counts without subsequent symptoms, yet here we are, day after day, reading about MOAR CASES!!! The horror.

Everyone not in the at-risk group would be better off exposed, and positive. That’s about 85% of the population. Without immunity, we’re gonna be putting up with this schitt for a decade or more.

Except that hospitals issued their own statement ignored by Democrats:

quote:

Our hospitals have the ICU capacity, staff and supplies to meet the healthcare needs of our community. In addition, Texas hospitals continue to reserve 15 percent of capacity for COVID-19 patients and medical care continues to be routinely provided in inpatient and outpatient settings without taxing the overall hospitalization capacity.

More fake news by CBS and the Democrats.

If masks work open everything up.

If masks don't work, why make them mandatory?

You can't appease regular Texans AND Karen at the same time, which is what Abbott is trying to do.
