So help me understand this. Are they just trying to eliminate all state university clubs or groups that are specific to Black, Latin American, or Native American, etc. minorities?
Does a Texas A&M or University of Texas Latin American students speaker series get banned?

True, but they still do need to be big to get some traction from some big names on Twitter to catch the right attention. Otherwise it's just another form for the "powerful" to have access. Just a whole new crop of them pushing their own agenda.
Good to see the President decided not to go for sure.

EXCLUSIVE: Texas A&M is sponsoring a trip to a DEI conference that prohibits whites and Asians from attending. The university falsely claims that this use of taxpayer funds does not violate the state's DEI ban.
@TAMU is supporting racial segregation and breaking the law.

Hey @GregAbbott_TX @KenPaxtonTX - is my newly adopted state gonna put up with this crap? Because I came from California, and it leads to thousands of houses getting burned down.
@GregAbbott_TX
Hell, no.
It’s against Texas law and violates the US Constitution.
It will be fixed immediately or the president will soon be gone.

Which is why the left didn't want it falling into Elon's hands.

My understanding is that you can have something like a Black Engineers Conference, for example, but you can’t actually exclude people from other races who want to participate. This conference that A&M was involved with was doing that.

Ok I’ll stick with Black Engineers example…. then all the white students can join the Black Engineers club.
No more Black Engineers Club.

Why can't there just be an Engineers Club? Why does it need to be race specific? If they had a White Engineers Club and said no other races can attend or participate, how would that go over?
In order to end racist attitudes, we need to start seeing each other as equals, and stop allowing people to pigeonhole us by our skin color or gender.
The fact that a university, state supported, allows this type of behavior to occur is a sign that there needs to be intervention.

In reality, most white students aren’t going to join such a club because they would feel awkward and maybe not welcomed.
But if the club says you literally can’t join because you’re white, then that becomes racial discrimination.

Ok. To be clear. The result is eliminating clubs.

Because the dirty little secret is that lots of minorities actually like to segregate themselves. They just don’t want whitey to do it.

No, I’m not black, and it’s not personal. It just sounds like the Governors office is aiming to cut out a lot of clubs.
Clubs have nothing to do with DEI.
They are just clubs. They aren’t forcing any doctrine on others. It is the State that is prohibiting.

I have no problem with race/sex based clubs/groups, etc. Problem is that it only goes one way now adays. White males would struggle starting up a club of their own right now, especially on a university campus. The people that support a blacks only group would have an issue with a whites only group.
There is a podcast commercial I hear for a show called "Brown Ambition." Black women show, for black women things. No outcry for that by the podcast system hosting companies, but I'm sure they would have an issue with the exact same show but called "White Ambition."

It's the new politics. The people actually have a voice. In real time. And IT. IS. frickING. GLORIOUS.

I don't either, but lets be honest, a whites only one would not be allowed. That's why it falls under the DEI umbrella.

To clarify - I think DEI policies are complete bullshite. Get rid of it.
But this looks like overreach.
There are no white people threatened by these clubs.

Not if it's university sponsored. Discrimination is illegal.

Exactly. I wonder if Abbott has said anything to that pretty long list of UT System schools. From yesterdays thread on this:

Baylor University
Rice University
Texas Tech University
University of Houston
University of North Texas
University of Texas at Austin
University of Texas at Dallas
University of Texas at El Paso
University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley
University of Texas at San Antonio
Other notable universities include Auburn University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Louisiana State University, the University of Notre Dame and the University of Oklahoma.
