Sure, we could probably prevail but the whole idea would be absurd and embarrassing. There would be total global isolation. NATO would turn on us and sanctions would come from everwhere.
Some allies.
What happened to the threat of Russia?

my post took less than a minute, you had to spend at least a half an hour on your pathetic diatribe and for what? do you think your making a difference, changing minds?

if you voted for Trump, you were either drunk or insane but I like the people of Louisiana so I can see how you can be both.
That would be voting for the installed candidate that is constantly drunk or took too much Xanax.
The one that couldn’t even win a primary.

The US isn’t going to own it, but Greenland would be crazy not to listen on possible deals with us. Neither they or Denmark have the capabilities to extract the minerals. We would be able to offer a large financial inventive for access.

Over 85% of Greenlanders and 80% of Danes want nothing to do with the U.S. They have flat-out said that they’re not for sale.
Not sure that is true. The party that came in 2d place in March is openly pro-forging-closer-ties with USA.
Plus, it is clear Greenland wants independence. Once achieved, a closer relationship with USA seems more likely than not

Absolutely. This was not ever brought up at all by "journalists" before Trump brought it up which I view as a complete failure by them but no surprise there.
Yep, now they're forced to talk about it because they want to talk about how "ridiculous" Trump is being about Greenland. No way to criticize what Trump is saying without also talking about Greenland.

In order for that to happen, I'm certain that 3 parties would have to be ok with it: Greenland, Denmark and the US Congress.
If the folks in Greenland vote to become their own country (I've read the folks in Greenland want this), then they could vote whether or not not they want to be part of the US in some manner.
Not sure what the process is with Congress, BUT, only a fool would bet against Trump. Just sayin

BS
Greenlanders feel Denmark ignored them
National and world security Trumps the hurt feelings of far left liberals with TDS ( excuse the redundancy)
Greenlanders were protected by USA during WWII and will be protected by USA in the future

Maybe ... yet 85% of Greenlanders say they don't want it. Maybe go talk to them and see if you can change their mind.

I believe the boyfriends creampie to be located in the gentleman's wife. Not on her.

85% right now say no but if they do become their own country maybe that changes? Would be interesting to see how the dynamic changes in that situation.

I wouldn't bet against his intentions with this if it's not a literal interpretation but to get us better leverage on international security, then I don't disagree.

If Trump could get it cleanly, I think he would do it in a heartbeat.
But, it's impossible to get it cleanly for the foreseeable future.

Grok says differently.
quote:
The residents of Greenland, predominantly Inuit, have a strong desire for greater autonomy and eventual independence from Denmark, though sentiments are nuanced and tied to practical considerations. Opinion polls and political developments indicate that a majority support independence within a 10-20 year timeframe, provided their standard of living can be maintained. A 2025 poll showed 84% of Greenlanders want independence from Denmark, but only 8% believe it could happen within a year, with 52% seeing it as feasible in one to two decades. Economic stability is a key concern, as Greenland relies heavily on a Danish block grant, which constitutes about two-thirds of its government budget.
Many Greenlanders feel a cultural and political disconnect from Denmark, rooted in a history of colonial abuses and policies of cultural assimilation. Prime Minister Múte Egede has emphasized Greenland’s desire to be “master of its own house,” rejecting both Danish and American control. The 2023 draft constitution, which envisions a Greenlandic republic, reflects this push for sovereignty and recognition of Inuit heritage. Political parties like Siumut and Inuit Ataqatigiit advocate for independence, with the former favoring a gradual approach to avoid losing Danish financial support
