Who had the thermometer a thousand years ago to check the temp?

Where were sea levels a 1000 years ago?

The fact that humans think they can stop the warming or cooling of a 4 billion year old rock is the most naive shite I've ever heard of in my life.
I said the exact same thing, almost word for word, to a bunch of my neighbors back during Thanksgiving and they looked at me like I was made of shite
Dumb arse people will believe anything that is told to them. No matter the data if it makes them feel safe

Do you not see the rapid spike in the graph you posted starting in the 1800s? Coinciding with the industrial revolution? I'm sure that's nothing

I’ve been hearing this shite for 40 years. If the motha ain’t melt yet, it ain’t gonna.

Let’s do a quick 2nd grade science experiment. Put ice in a glass, pour water in it. When the ice melts does the glass over flow? Lol
Greenland ice sheet sits on land which is the whole problem with it melting. Good way to show your ignorance though

No one cares about what happens to the magnetic poles. It doesn't effect the climate at all.
What's heating up the Earth is mankind's churning out stifling quantities of carbon dioxide. ICEs, gas appliances, coal-fired power plants, gas-fired power plants, and flatulent herbivores all generate atmospheric carbon gases, and it's making the planet too warm and melting ice sheets and glaciers everywhere.
There's a far cry from 250 ppm CO2 in 1950 to over 400 ppm today. And you're worried about magnetic fields and almost immeasurable changes in seasonal tilts!
It's all about proportions, man...

I think it's a psychological flaw in humans. We always react to weather and climate changes like this.
1. We must have done something wrong because obviously the universe revolves around us.
2. We must do something to fix this as if we could.
3. Toss the virgins in the volcano, or build a mountain of skulls from sacrifices, or sacrifice potential prosperity and hamstring the advancement of the species.
There's nothing new here. Acts of contrition are hard wired into us when we confront things we don't understand and cannot control.

We should air drop Hillary, Pelosi and Waters on it.
It's sure to refreeze.

I agree with this. Every nation needs to be on board with getting carbon effluent levels down.
But the United States, as the sole economic superpower, needs to provide the moral leadership to establish coherent global policy. If the American zeitgeist on climate in any way resembles this board, then we're a long way from getting China, India or other offenders to the table.

Where did the water that the ice sheet is made of come from?
Posted on 1/18/23 at 7:17 pm to NC_Tigah
I need one of those 1,000 year old thermometers.

So that means more animal life and greenery where there was nothing but ice!
