On top of running a completely other business I owned in the early mornings, nights and weekends working basically 14-16 hours a day. I also was helping coach the baseball team.

It wasn't your place to advise a 16yr old minor to drop out of high school in your vaunted capacity as a time out warden. Period.

They love to bring up John Stossel who tells them pretty little lies but ignore actual economists like Aaron Clarey who actually paint the real picture of what has been going on.

Once more Tucker proves how full of shite he is
Tucker and I are on each side of the boomer window by about 5 years. So his life was almost no different than mine. We were very middle class, and my parents raised 3 kids
* in a 1500 sq ft house
* with only 1 car
* window a/c units only
* never went out to eat except on Sundays
* packed our own lunches to work/school
* new clothes for back-to-school, Christmas, and seasonal weather only
* almost no electronic toys
* one landline phone
* no cable or streaming
* coffee was free at stores
So he yet again is a lying, attention-seeking, bullshite artist posing as a bearer of truth

Tucker is wrong because you grew up poor?
Posted on 11/21/25 at 1:11 pm to scottydoesntknow
quote:
Essentially, our youth are being saddled with debt just to afford a comparative lifestyle to the generations before them...and even then still cant afford it.
This is a deep and complex issue.
Many of us GenX had to work for 15 or 20 or 30 years to get to the point where we were finally blanketed in some modicum of comfort. We made sacrifices early and often. We drove beaters and often existed off of Ramen noodles for sustenance. We did without internet, cable and satellite TV. We bargain shopped for clothes.
Beginning with mid-millennials and now with GenZ, the expectation leveled upon them by the Narrative Control Apparatus and the Establishment pop culture advertising industrial complex, is much higher. They've been programmed to think that either straight out of high school or college, they must have the latest cars, the newest iPhones, expensive media subscriptions, Lululemon workout clothes, Louie Vitton apparel and be able to treat themselves to $40 lunch breaks every day.
They're expecting, right out of the gate, to just receive all the things that the rest of us have worked our whole lives to obtain.
Now I do recognize that their cost of living is much higher than ours was starting off, but they just need to recognize that nothing good is free, and nothing free is good. We must sacrifice things to get ahead in the long run. But it's too easy for the narrative control apparatus to whip their young ideological sheep into an emotional tizzy about how "unfair" it is that previous generations have more than they do.
And nearly all of them grew up not wanting for anything, which is a big part of the problem. I grew up so poor that our cockroaches ate better than I did, and always heard the whisperings of "he'll never amount to anything" and "he's poor white trash" and "we'll pay for his welfare for his entire life". Yeah? From the time I turned 17 and began working, I never took a government handout and never even applied for any assistance. I worked, hard. And now I'm pushing 50 and borderline upper-middle class statistically. I had to work my arse off for it and no one EVER handed me ANYTHING.
The younger struggling generations need to engage in introspect and step outside of their bubble to look back in. This world will fricking chew you up and spit you out if you let it, or you can kick, punch and claw your way along and eventually make it if you just stay motivated. The internet age of instant results and gratification, along with the age of psyops and emotional manipulation and gaslighting, has all but ruined these people.
/rant.
TL/DR:
If you're working and broke, look at whatever sacrifices you can make, and ask yourself what you can do to improve your monetary gain in today's competitive market. Stop complaining about not having what you haven't earned yet.

My kids childhood was 50% better than my childhood. The only debt accumulated by them is at their own hands.
Just remember, your kids and grand kids will blame you for something.
Suck it up buttercup.

Tucker has lost me on this one. No one made people borrow money that they can't pay back. For those of us who didn't attend college, or those of us who worked 2 jobs while attending to cover our own expenses, this is total bull. Can you name any generation that started out better than their parents who spent a lifetime working and raising families. We stated out renting and driving used cars for years. We weren't given anything. Neither was our parents or grandparents. They all started out with nothing. The idea that you should start life with a new home and car is new to humanity. I will agree that it is hard. But come here across ship that took months and bringing only what you could carry with you . Starting with nothing but a few hand tools and having to clear land and build shelter . This is just wrong telling this generation how have bad they have it. As a matter of fact it is a lie. Worthless degrees are being pushed now. You would be better off learning a trade. We started working while we were still in high school. I walked a couple of miles after my day was complete from my job. From school to my job I walked. Entitled generation.

grok when the average boomer was 30, what was the national debt and its share of GDP, demographics of the US and price of a median home relative to a man's salary

Tucker actually blamed Gen X as well.
He specifically targeted Conservatives.
He also excused young smart kids ... "really smart kids" ... because, afterall, they are stupid. They are so stupid in Tucker's mindset that they willingly fall for every credit gimmick out there ... because ... you know ... they're just kids.
Relative to some of Tucker's off-the-charts bizarre stuff recently though, this was relatively tame and reasonable.
His point about student loans is a good one.
College tuition and fees are disproportionately high, as are student loan rates. There are some reasonable solutions. Simply paying off loans willy nilly is not one of them. It would send a big FU to recipients who actually paid theirs off.
However, if we regard college education as an asset, the US should never charge a premium on the loans. Refinance them immediately at 10yr bond rates. Then implement a university/college tax based on percentages of student loans amongst attendees along with tuition, room and board costs with a sharp increase to accompany any tuition increases. Transfer that revenue directly to the student loan program to further reduce student loan payments and/or debt.
Credit cards, payday loans, etc should be forced to ensure users understand costs. Aside from that ... if kids are as stupid as Tucker insinuates, it is what it is.

We werent poor. Thats how people lived in the 60s
Tucker and the whining millennials are feeding you a line of bullshite, because kids today cant live like their parents do in their 60s, the moment they graduate from a way too expensive college (of their choosing)
Young adults today suck. They dont understand the term sacrifice. Streaming, smart phones, exotic vacays, multiple cars, 2750 sq ft homes, electricity sucking appliances, daily fancy coffees, lunches and dinners out, etc. come with consequences. But they want to blame boomers for their own loathsome decision making

Well I did and because for once in his life an adult was truthful with him about where his life was really headed, he made a change for the better. If he has listened to the women like you and feminine male teachers in that school, hed had finished high school illiterate and without any skills, would have taken on thousands in student debt only to either drop out of college or finish with a worthless degree and would be one of the majority of young folks who are in debt, underemployed and hopeless

Ill tell you where...the boomers bent over the economy and buttraped it. Now young people are dealing with the royal mess your greedy welfare generation left us with
