Governor Landry did an outstanding job on 60 Minutes. People definitely agree with him.

I had no idea congressional districts had been drawn based on the color of someone's skin. How does a skin color turn someone into a fine upstanding political leader?

But nobody asks the question, if it's so critical that a BLACK must represent the interests of BLACK people, why aren't the Hispanics screaming the same and demanding set aside districts?

I really don't think so. Cubans, for example, have assimilated well into the USA. Hispanics not from Cuba less so, but still, most have done without so much before getting here that they appreciate what they've been able to accomplish. 100 years from now, if a plague, nuclear war or another engineered virus doesn't take us all out, blacks will STILL be demanding more and committing more and more crimes.

I would think all districts would be defined as close to a grid as possible. Then we could expect to see leaders elected by their ability to lead, solve problems, generate ideas, etc.

From the micro, I agree, from the macro, I don't agree. It's an arms race now. I think this will lead to bluer and redder districts and less cooperation in the legislative body. We are a purple country but the 535 districts will be deep blue and ruby red in 435 of them. I think it is a bad road and will make progress in this country much harder.

If blacks can only represent blacks (which is implied in all of this bullshite), then what about the white voters in the "black" districts?

They do. They just do it by overwhelming you with numbers. Areas that were once black are brown. And they are electing their own people.

Amazingly enough, black voters can't see what the Dems are doing with the Hispanics.

Blacks love to kill other blacks(including babies) so their population is stagnant. Mix that with their one party belief and they only way they can get anything is with gerrymandering.

When asked if he cared if Louisiana didn't have a black Representative he should have said,

they can all be black, or all Asian, or all Hispanic as long as the voters have a chance to fairly elect who they think is the best candidate based on the content of their character.

What about the 45% in the Northeast with ZERO representation since forever?

Asians have had quite a long time, yet, no screaming and stomping of feet there .

If this is the case we don’t have equality. Any system that perpetuates the special treatment of some… is designed to retain inequality—rather than seek equality. Ironically, that’s “critical race theory” in a nutshell—just the opposite direction.

Honestly, that segment made him look better, wiser, and quicker on his feet than ever before in my opinion. There wasn't one thing he said that I disagree with.

I say this as someone who used to despise him to my core, but could Landry have a future on the national stage? I could see an America that voted for Trump twice (or three times haha) being attracted or at least intrigued by Jeff Landry.

How dumb was the question of “why is it an emergency”

I mean the Supreme Court just declared the districts unconstitutional. I’d say that’s a pretty big deal going into an election.

This isn’t his timeline and while I know he can’t say this but he 100% carved out a place specifically for Fields as payback to Garrett Graves so it’s not something he necessarily pushed for

60 minutes kept (intentionally) lying when they said this ruling was meant to gerrymander districts. It’s meant to remove gerrymandering. They know this bc they’re dishonest pieces of shite.

Right! Because gerrymandering got us into this mess. If race is used to draw a district, at all, it's a racist practice. You can look at demographics but any that would be used to solely segregate districts would be discriminatory. Population is the only thing that should be considered and lines drawn from population centers based on the number of districts required. Simple when you take the politics and special interests out of it.

Whew, no wonder I haven't watched 60 minutes in years/decades.

Every question she asked began with "some people would say ...."

Holy cow, slanted much? Landry did about as good as one can do answering one loaded question after another. Why didn't she ever ask "some people would say this is long overdue, it is about time the maps are drawn fairly.."
