Next Cloture Vote is scheduled for 1:00 am Monday, unless there is a reason to have one sooner.

Today is the big day. If a deal doesn't get worked out today then it will show that both sides have dug in for the long haul. Getting a deal done today will prevent most of the "horrible" impacts of the shutdown, since most government emp impacted were off over the weekend. The Ds have circled the State of the Union Address on the 30th as their last best chance to get leverage in this situation. They bet on the Rs folding b/c they didn't want to shutdown the government and now they are betting that the Rs won't want the government shutdown during the State of the Union Address.

There will be media stations camped out in front of military installations tomorrow morning to report the hundreds of thousands of military who are reporting for duty. Will hurt the narrative.

I will ask my son if he will see this narrative crushing report of AFN.

DoD report
“The civilians who work on AFN were furloughed as broadcasting is not an essential service. However, we have (DoD) paid our contracts through February 28th with FY17 funds. Therefore, a Servicemember can turn the lights back on and our troops can see the games.”

Reports are now that Graham has flipped to "Y" and that Flake is probably a "Y" moving the total to 52. There is no new deal on the table but supposedly Graham is satisfied that immigration will get the necessary attention after passage of the CR. This really puts the Ds in a tough spot b/c they have been claiming "bipartisan" support for the shutdown.

Word is that talks may have started to fade. Watch the cloture vote time, if they move it up then that is probably a good sign but if it stays at 1:00 am then look for it to fail.

Wow, Rs are playing hardball!

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) quickly shot down the idea, saying it plays into the Democrats’ hands. “We’re more than happy to have a vote on it well before the deadline,” Cornyn said. “Turning the agenda over to Democrats who just shut down the government makes no sense to me.

Things appear to be falling apart fast as the WH is now going after Graham, after earlier Graham appeared to be signaling that a "deal" was within reach to end the shutdown.

The White House hit back at Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) comments calling White House aide Stephen Miller an “outlier” on immigration, using the same phrase to describe Graham’s stance on the topic. “As long as Sen. Graham chooses to support legislation that sides with people in this country illegally and unlawfully instead of our own American citizens, we're going nowhere.

Kaine and Warner are "No" after both supported the December CR. There are only 12 undecided Ds at this point and at least 11 are needed to pass the CR.
With all of the Military in VA, those two Bastard's should be tarred and feathered.

Last shutdown, I had just taken over a group of about 20 people and I to meet individually with each one and read a prepared statement that was given to me. I ended up reading it 35 times that day and I felt retarded each time

Meadows is echoing what others have been saying this evening that Graham and the Ds can take the immigration talk and shove it until they open the government back up.
quote:
“We are not going to negotiate on immigration while the government is shut down,” House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows says on Senate side.
