How bad could this screw Higgins? St. Landry and a part of Lafayette are now in the 6th as well
Anyone wanting to run in the 3rd district better have deep pockets. You have to advertise in 4 TV markets to ensure your message is getting out.

The new sixth district didn’t have to include Cleo Fields. They could have drawn a minority district without including Fields.
I take it that you are unaware that a person doesnt have to live in a district prior to declaring to run for that seat> Cleo could have always run in any newly created seat, and then move if he wins

If you're a candidate for the United States House of Representatives, you have to be at least 25 years old and have been a U.S. citizen for at least seven years. But there's no requirement that you live in the congressional district you are vying to represent.

I know that, but it is a hurdle Field’s would have to overcome.
Generally speaking people prefer their representatives to reside in their districts and not somewhere else. In my opinion not living in the district would cost him votes.
If you look at the district map can you honestly tell me that they didn’t include all the mostly white precincts south of Highland Road along Manchac in the sixth district so they could capture Fields’ residence? It looks that way to me.

Again, it doesnt matter. The courts want another black winner. He qualifies.
He would move, no matter where the lines were drawn, if he wins

Fricking ridiculous that you cut one district in half to comply with this shite. Crazy

The feds demand a second minority seat.
The feds demand we don’t gerrymander.
It is impossible to have both as our population is currently sited.

Graves is on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee (a much desired committee to be on) which is why Louisiana has been getting some hefty Federal funding for infrastructure projects including flood control and hurricane coastal protection. He is also on the House Natural Resources Committee and its Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee and the Water, Wildlife and Fisheries Subcommittee. So he has strong input into any federal law changes affecting the oil and gas extraction industry and/or the water and wildlife and fisheries industries, not that any of those are important to a state like Louisiana... Maybe YOU should try to keep up rather than being a lemming whose only concern is if a politician is a fire-breathing MAGA-cult fanatic. (And I contributed $1,500 to Trump's reelection PAC in 2020, so, yes, I support Trump, too, but not at the expense of what's best for Louisiana.)
And none of this matters when it comes to vote time & he is one the masterminds of the big spending bills, sends hundreds of millions to Ukraine (got his palms greased for that), is compromised by the CCP through Sequoia Capital, voted to expel a member who was a solid conservative vote bc Dems were screaming he used campaign funds in Botox, which brought our razor thin margin of majority even lower, but ironically enough he voted to not censor the fckg traitor Adam Schiff.
Graves got the same calls Kari Lake got but like the coward cuck he is, his weak arse accepted the deal & sold us out!

I noticed Kennedy isn’t one of the senators that signed support on Cassidy’s bill.
McConnell must’ve had a call made to him to sit back & name his price.

So why did they finagle the district to include him if it didn’t matter?
