I didn't mean that in a mean, wish you would die way. Societies progress left. Can't stop it. Only thing you can do is speed it up or slow it down. I'm a fan of slowing down some things though.

So. He is able to separate his personal beliefs from his judicial decision-making.

That's all I can ask.

Yeah. And I still do. I think he will do a fine job.

My point is that there's no way he's ruling the way Scalia would or along conservative lines on a lot of these issues. I get it. That's America. But, the promises that were made were that the Court would be stacked in a direction to overturn Roe. I knew that was a lie, but millions voted for Trump based on that lie.

Once the rulings come down and it is obvious that he was lying to Evangelicals, their support won't be there for him in 2018 or 2020. It is an electoral issue that bears watching.

Ah yes. The ole teleological view of history fallacy.

Tell me how we are just like we were in the 1950s.

And I didn't say we lose all morality as things change. You can argue that I guess based on your personal idea of morality.

Why is there no way he's ruling the way Scalia would? All of his court decisions pretty much point to the fact that he will.

Tell me non-sequitur.

Did you think of that one all by yourself?

I mean outside of abortion and gay marriage, Scalia wasn't a big Freedom of Religion justice honestly.

You could have just said:

Episcopalian

ETA:

If you're really concerned, just look at who he studied under at Oxford.

I know who he studied under. I get that he has conservative credentials.

I'm talking about where he chooses to attend worship every week and how that influences him.

It was an issue with Obama being a member of Jeremiah Wright's church. Sure enough, many of Wright's teachings worked their way in. Same will be the case with Gorsuch, I fear.

I'm a non-Hispanic white heterosexual cisgenedered male who is a member of a mainline Protestant church, marking me as a member of the most powerful group in the US.

The last justice on the SCOTUS with similar attributes was William Rhenquist, who was confirmed in 1969.

Privilege, bitchez.
