Wait till plan B comes out. Shoplifting. It is winter time for all practical and evil purposes. Means the heavy coats will come out with pockets to fill.

amazing how many people don't understand the rampant fraud being perpetrated through the food stamp program.
You mean the funneling of tax dollars to corporations like Walmart to boost their revenue and increase the value of the stock that the elected officials purchased knowing that it was going to increase in value?

That's not true at all, and it's part of the rampant fraud baked into the system. I was at Costco the other day grabbing steaks, and this couple was browsing next to me. They were very tatted up and downright greasy, but not in a rock star way. More like they hadn't showered in a week. The lady grabbed FIVE packages of prime filets. These were no less than $70 per pack.
Obviously I have zero proof that they were using ebt, but there were definite alarms in my head. I've never personally witnessed a person buying that much steak while also looking like they should probably be buying soap instead. Maybe they were drug dealers lol. It just seemed like an expensive way to buy filets. I would have just bought whole tenderloins if I needed that much.

So now we're pretending that high beef prices are a good thing?

Then why even tell the story?

I bought a bunch of these prime strips for $11.99/lb. They were each around 8oz. Incredible.

I thought about that, but I would be willing to bet quite a lot that my suspicions are correct. Considering I'm in Louisiana, where roughly 18% of the dang population is on SNAP, that's a pretty good wager. And although modern liberal pundits tell me that my instincts are incorrect, my nearly half a century on earth has proven that I can, in fact, judge a book by its cover.
And please don't forget that SNAP and WIC are not the same program. Any parent receiving SNAP will also likely get WIC for their children birth to age 5. The USDA estimates around 40% of U.S. infants are on WIC. Mind blowing.

Food stamps should be regulated on what you can buy with them.....are they?
They are, that’s why this whole thread is pointless.
They are not in most states, yet.
I'm guessing you live in Louisiana which is one of the first to actually cut out candy, snacks, and and soft drinks? Because that's not the case in most others yet.
Educate yourself

Sure, but this is more along the lines of why the government looks the other way about the fraud.

Those look great. What year did you buy those?
Posted on 11/1/25 at 3:56 pm to Gunny Hartman
one or two weeks ago. Champagne's in Lafayette.

Yes, they are, and they do. I see it literally every time I go to the grocery store. Most of the people on SNAP in my area are getting $800-1500+ a month and so they don't give one shite about the price of their food. They buy high-end and STILL often have SNAP money left over at the end of the month. They use their leftover SNAP money to trade for weed and meth at 50 cents on the dollar.
This is a very regular practice. And why wouldn't it be, when there's no oversight, checks or audits? Mrs. Unemployed trailer trash Nancy with three mixed kids by three baby daddies all in prison, gets her groceries, gets her sack of bud and Mr. Ty'quavius down on the corner gets his high end cuts of beef too.
And your tax dollars subsidize this.
