I was trying to find the stats, and I will update when I do.
But…this tells you all you need to know about this current congress and how they refuse to codify any of Trump’s EO’s.

From back in March:
quote:
A record number of newcomers entered the federal lobbying industry in 2025, as historic lobbying spending helped drive an infusion of new blood into K Street.
Nearly 2,040 individuals registered as lobbyists for the first time last year, marking the first time annual new lobbyist filings have surpassed 2,000. The total was up nearly 43% from 2024, when fewer than 1,430 new lobbyists registered, and reversed four consecutive years of declining entry into the industry.
Much of the increase came from contracted lobbyists working for outside firms, whose ranks grew from 600 new registrants in 2024 to 971 in 2025. New in-house lobbyists also increased, rising from 827 to 1,067 over the same period. The overall number of registered lobbyists topped 14,000 in 2025 for the first time since 2009. The expansion extended to lobbying organizations as well, with 525 new lobbying registrants filing for the first time in 2025, the greatest influx of new firms registering in at least 15 years.
quote:
The influx included a record number of congressional staffers and other government officials entering the lobbying industry through Washington's revolving door. A total of 872 former public servants transitioned into lobbying roles in 2025, including 442 Republicans and 388 Democrats, surpassing the previous high of 777 set in 2007. Former government employees accounted for roughly 43% of all first-time lobbyists registered during the year.

I'd be in support of a law that bans any Congressional staffer or other directly associated individual from registering as a lobbyist for at least five years after they've left their job.

Also need a law that the maximum any lobbyist can contribute to a political office is $350.00 per year.

No different than a noncompete favoring the incoming freshmen congress. They deserve the chance. Just kidding.
In all seriousness…there is waaay too much incentive to do ANYTHING to get elected then milk the system. It’s breeding a permanent political class that basically steals taxes. No different than having more babies for welfare.

It needs to be capped whatever that may be.
The problem is who’s going to sponsor the bill.

Dont ever forget 'pretty boy' Paul Ryan crying JUST GIVE US THE HOUSE. A few years later 'pretty boy' cries again JUST GIVE US THE SENATE TOO. A couple of years later he cries JUST GIVE US THE PRESIDENCY AND WE WILL GET THINGS DONE. Well, pretty boy was given EVERYTHING, and Paul Ryan and the RepubliCANTS did ZERO, NADA, ZILCH.
