Glenn Beck said today that federal lobbyists shattered the record so far this year.

A record number of newcomers entered the federal lobbying industry in 2025, as historic lobbying spending helped drive an infusion of new blood into K Street.

Nearly 2,040 individuals registered as lobbyists for the first time last year, marking the first time annual new lobbyist filings have surpassed 2,000. The total was up nearly 43% from 2024, when fewer than 1,430 new lobbyists registered, and reversed four consecutive years of declining entry into the industry.

Much of the increase came from contracted lobbyists working for outside firms, whose ranks grew from 600 new registrants in 2024 to 971 in 2025. A total of 872 former public servants transitioned into lobbying roles in 2025, including 442 Republicans and 388 Democrats, surpassing the previous high of 777 set in 2007. I'd be in support of a law that bans any Congressional staffer or other directly associated individual from registering as a lobbyist for at least five years after they've left their job.
