This is from the Fourth Circuit opinion. Not exactly the picture that Liberty Headlines presented:
"As part of the “Muslim World” unit, Wood’s teacher presented the students with a PowerPoint slide entitled “Islam Today,” which contrasted “peaceful Islam” with “radical fundamental Islam.” The slide contained the statement that “Most Muslim’s [sic] faith is stronger than the average Christian” (the comparative faith statement) (underlining in original). The school’s content specialist, Jack Tuttle, testified that use of the comparative faith statement was inappropriate, and that he would have advised a teacher who was considering teaching this statement “[n]ot to do that.
"Part of the worksheet required the students to “fill in the blanks” to complete certain information comprising the “Five Pillars” of Islam. Included in that assignment was the statement: “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah[,]” a 5 portion of a declaration known as the shahada (the shahada assignment)..."

It's only cool to oppress jews and Christians. It would be illegal to make a Muslim do that in regards to Judaism or christianity

Here is a history book I bought at Goodwill. It was published in 1946. It states Islam soon became a RELIGION OF WAR AND CONQUEST. Ask yourselves, why there is a need to change history books?
Please go out and buy any old history books you can find to preserve the changes being made right before our eyes. People don't notice.
This is why our children use tear away books. Hardly anything preserved!

Does this school also make Muslims write the opposite?
Does it make Jews write out the full text of “God?”
This argument completely misses the mark.

Too long to read whole thread. But facts are incorrect.
It was a fill-in-the- blank assignment. Here it is:
That is not nearly as bad as it was made out to be and is more in keeping with it being a "World History" class.
Probably why the FFRF didn't get involved.

Because being taught about different religions is a key part of a world history education.

It is bad if you are a Christian and believe the Bible. This "World History" lesson contradicts what is taught in the Bible. This lesson is a LIE. Whether it was fill in the blanks or writing out the whole prayer, it goes against this student's religion.
This student obviously fears the Lord and believes the commandment that says "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." The shahada is the Muslim profession of faith. Why would students be taught this? Why would students be required to know that particular section of history?
If you do not see the bigger picture and indoctrination that is happening to our children, then I will pray that you awaken from your slumber.

Is it ok or not ok to force a student to participate in a religious ritual or not?
I think on it's face it is learning about religions which is generally accepted. The article made it sound like it was biased and maybe being abused, but I'm guessing it probably still gets by under the guise of religion lessons.

Islam is a Mesopotamian moon cult started by an illiterate pedophile. They brag about their warlord false prophet being unable to read or write authoring the Koran like it is a good thing. If you ever make the unfortunate mistake of reading it, you’ll see it indeed sounds like the rambling train of thought of some inbred goatfricker as it meanders from “cut the fingers off of infidels” to “I wish my son would divorce his wife so I can sleep with her” to butchering basic biblical stories. All the retarded long lost cousins that believe in it can continue to throw rocks and war with each other until they all go to hell.

Leftists are not generally even neutral on Islam. They will defend it and tell you how it's a peaceful, wonderful religion.
They'll never critique it, because they're insane people.

I worked at a middle school last year as an aid and I attended every class with the 7th grade student I helped. I can tell you that Christianity was NOT covered the way Islam was. Jesus was only mentioned 1 time while Muhammad was studied in depth. Judaism was not covered the way Islam was.
When students were being taught the lesson several raised their hands asking how Muhammad could be a messenger from God because the Bible teaches that Jesus is God's final messenger. The teacher was not prepared to answer this question. She sort of brushed it off and said she didn't really know and would have to look into it. She never came back to them with an answer.
It is one thing to teach World History and something else to teach World Religion. The lines are being blurred and our kids are getting confused.
People may not believe in God or the Bible, but those of us who do understand what is happening. There is a motive with all of this.
For non-believers I will leave you with this thought:
If God and the Bible are not real, why does the media and TPTB try so hard to push us away from all of its teachings? Why does everything surrounding us contradict the Bible? Reconcile that for yourself and Be Not Deceived!

I have no problem with including a little religion in social studies curriculum if it helps American kids understand cultures of the world.
I don't either, but if the girl (correctly IMO) had an issue with that question she should have been able to opt out of it. Teaching about various religions isn't a big deal, and neither is somebody opting out of answering a question if it violates their values.

I guess since I was taught by Catholic priests what Muslims believed, everyone in the room understood that this was their belief, not ours. We knew we just had to provide the correct answers, not believe they were the truth.
If these teachers are presenting tenets of the Muslim faith, or any faith, as the truth, that is a problem.
Especially for younger students.
