Learning seems to be a difficult activity in Hollywood for a while now. Several movies that rebooted beloved movies like Ghostbusters and Oceans 11 with an all female cast has well failed in a spectacularly epic fashion.

how to ruin a franchise

And I loved the Hellraiser franchise. I guess destroying Star Wars wasn't enough.

quote:

The Hellraiser reboot, which has been caught in its very own development hell for over a decade, is the latest film to court controversy by recasting a role made famous by a male actor with a female/trans actor. And while knee-jerk criticism is sure to follow, it’s actually a creative masterstroke.

It's going to be a disaster.

quote:

Now let me clarify, I’m not saying that a Hellraiser film needs to examine the fluid line that divides gender, but rather that is seems fertile creative territory that shares a common root with the original works.

It’s Hellraiser. That franchise has had an interesting iconic character in Pinhead but been a total clusterfrick besides that for about 30 years.

What EON productions is doing to the Bond franchise is much worse and more significant.

I mainly accumulate old shite at this point rather than new material.

I find Network, A Clockwork Orange, Blazing Saddles, and numerous other films are as relevant today as they were at the time. And many of them couldn’t be made today for various reasons.

Stop supporting Hollywood

No one is serious about the culture war if you still support pop culture.

So they're saying trans people are monsters?

We need to remake the Harvey Milk movie and make it about a straight white guy that smashes poon and is a devout Catholic.

Things like that is why I have only seen one movie in a theater in 20 years. Had to see John Wick 3 but I can see that franchise getting destroyed in another decade.

Stop supporting Hollywood? Most of the good stuff is filmed in Atlanta. I'm supporting our local businesses.

Meh... its Hellraiser. They are demonic cenobites, a female trans character might even make sense here.

Wasn't going to watch it anyways.

Yep. It’s gonna die with Daniel Craig. Ironically the actor that probably hated playing Bond the most.

They are going to go woke and “progressive” with the next one. And probably being rebooted to fight inequality.

If a man transitions to a woman, and is still considered a trans, doesn't that defeat their point of transitioning?
