Because they know tracing is largely pointless when 1/3rd to a half of all covid cases are asymptomatic

How can any objective person possibly think our notoriously inefficient federal and state bureaucracies can successfully implement such a grand endeavor?

Louisiana can’t even clear the hard rock rubble!

Tracing won’t work when I’m telling the gestapo I’ve been hanging out with JBE.

Bold move by Italy. Of course they can probably just trace the whole damned country. I bet 90% have antibodies.

Good chance the asymptotic rate is even higher than that.

Once again we have let our government use a situation to manipulate us into giving up some of our freedom. We will never change this because we continue to elect the same persona over and over again. We are fricked!

Nobody does

Its a money grab

They will get federal money, pay the tracers and politicians buddies will pocket a big chunk of the rest of it

Tracing only works in the incipient stages of an outbreak. Doing it at this point is like putting water on the charred remains of a house

Haven't paid too much attention to Italy or France, but Germany has a pretty extensive contact tracing apparatus. Not like S. Korean extensive, but more robust than anything even contemplated here. They're doing that for a reason.

You have this the wrong way round. Tracing is most necessary and has its greatest value with diseases that have a large population of asymptomatic carriers. The whole point is to identify people who have it but have no reason to believe that they do from recent contacts who we know are positive. Think HIV.

A better critique is that Americans are rightly wary of the privacy implications in a way that other countries citizens may not be.

If Trump has his way, he’ll keep us shut down a couple more months and institute tracing. We really need to push against the Trump shutdown. Georgia is proving this.

You’re brainwashed, so there’s no use talking to you...

He even outwardly disapproved of Georgia reopening. With no absolute direction coming from our leader, states are held to what they feel is the most responsible common denominator. He could say right now - ‘you have the right and should open up’. Because he doesn’t, he is 100% responsible for keeping us shut down.
