And you just can't help but gloat! I thought your kind are saying that the 'shutdown' is causing starvation and homelessness. How about the layoffs, what would those cause?!?!

700 is a good start for the auto industry, but the auto industry has become a place where job security is very low and uncertain. Last year Ford shut down plants for weeks and sometimes months at a time.
GM is just as bad or worse. This is part of an article in November. The article covers plants in Warren, Mich where Trump held a rally in 2016. It also covers the plant closings in Detroit and Lordstown, Ohio. Lordstown has already fired 3,000 and more layoffs for the rest of the plants are coming in 2019.
By David J. Lynch and
Taylor Telford November 26, 2018
“General Motors said Monday it will close five factories and lay off nearly 15,000 workers in a move that shows the economy may be starting to slow and dents President Trump’s claim to be leading a renaissance for industrial America.
The automaker said it would save $6 billion annually by thinning its salaried management ranks, dropping thousands of American and Canadian factory workers, and emphasizing the production of larger sport-utility vehicles rather than sedans.”
