George Zimmerman, the onetime neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida, is suing Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg for $265 million, claiming both 2020 Democratic presidential candidates defamed him in an attempt to "garner votes in the black community."

The lawsuit filed in Polk County, Fla., Tuesday argues Warren and Buttigieg’s two separate tweets on Feb. 5, which would have been Martin’s 25th birthday, used the killing “as a pretext to demagogue and falsely brand Zimmerman as a white supremacist and racist to their millions of Twitter followers.”

Ouch... this will leave a mark. Twitter will get lots in trouble I reckon.

This may hurt Pete.

OTOH, it reminds people that Lieawatha is still in the race.

George Zimmerman's mom is part African and from Peru making him more of a minority than people like AOC who has two officially white parents.

All the sudden now he is a white supremacist? lol

Yep! He was probably trying to fade away until they used him for their notoriety.

Imagine hitching your wagon to a total shitbag headcase just because he may get some money from your political opponent

Kind of hard to fade away when Presidential candidates continue to put him in the spotlight.

I wonder why they never use OJ Simpson when discussing domestic violence...….maybe it's because he was found not guilty.

Good. He was only defending himself and Trayvon got exactly what he had coming to him.

I hope he bankruptes both of them and then he should get a medal

Far too many in my profession are far too willing to file a frivolous suit for either publicity or a nuisance-value settlement.

Make the lawyers jointly-and-severally liable for the costs and fees of unsuccessful cases, and a lot of this nonsense stops. Not just legally “frivolous” cases as is now the case in most jurisdictions. Alternatively, redefine “frivolous.”

Good for Zimmerman.

Someone else who should sue a few politicians is the cop involved in the Ferguson shooting. It's a disgrace that they called him a murderer when we know better.

How is this frivolous? He’s not a public figure, he was found innocent in a court of law, and any rational review of evidence in the public record demonstrates he acted within his rights defending his life.

Has he become a nutbag since? Sure, but that’s not surprising given what he went through.
