Is that a lot? It doesn't seem like a lot to me, but I don't know how many people a large factory would normally hire.

looks to be about 10% of the current Louisville workforce. Not a huge number but definitely better than them being in China

Moving it is definitely a plus.

It's too bad it's not American owned anymore apparently.

It's only 800 jobs.

Don't be like the climate scammers where every warm day is proof they are right.

If the tariffs are temporary and only used for leverage to negotiate better deals, I'm fine with them. Or, if it resulted in getting rid of the income tax.

But if it's just a long term tariff, then it's really just a tax on the American people, the government just finding yet another way to squeeze money out of the American people and it's not a good thing.

Screw GE. It’s a shell of a company it once was.

Jeff Immelt is enjoying his retirement in a multimillion dollar estate on Kiawah Island. He decimated GE.

Bob Nardelli should have got the chairmanship over Immelt. GE would still be thriving.

Immelt got his golden parachute. A chimpanzee could have done a better job.

GE is a Trainwreck. Their acquisition of Baker Hughes went horribly and caused them to lose a lot of their influence in the energy sector. They acquired Lufkin several years ago and shut down one of America's biggest iron foundries and exported the work to China, which of course resulted in inferior iron. People were paying more for legacy Lufkin iron products than they were willing to pay for brand new Lufkin products because they would last (after 50 years or more of service) than the new products.

The other kicker is that more than half of the stuff that says GE on it is made in Mexico by a company called MABE de Mexico.

NAFTA kicked the US in the balls!!

The all important question is WHEN?

I know it’s hard to determine with this large of an investment, but I hate having the feeling that these companies just announce an investment, say it’ll take 10 years and then quietly backtrack once they are no longer pressured.

I’d love to be proven wrong of course.

I work for GE. theres no back tracking on this. Our Engineers have been working on the new product line for almost a year. Just last year they invested 120+ Million in our range plant here in LaFayette for new products and upgrades
