I love this guy's way of thinking! It is a proven fact that raising taxes has cured the poverty problem in many countries! Antartica has a ZERO PERCENT poverty rate!

You'd have to be working 10-15 hours a week at pretty low wages

I don't care. It's wealth redistribution and will not help anything but stringing the unambitious along. Acclimating people to a meager existence is nothing to crow about.

Raising the minimum wage is not going to help the poor and the lazy. You know why? Because when you raise the cost of production, the cost of goods and services also rises.

This is a stale and extremely stupid argument

The amount that products will increase in cost is not proportional to the minimum wage

Anyone who has the ability to think for themselves can figure out why pretty quickly

And if both kids are at school what excuse does a person have for working less than 2 days a week? You honestly have to really work at it to be this incredibly lazy. Call me heartless, but I have absolutely zero sympathy for leeches like this. It’s simply punishing the people who actually work and rewarding the unproductive dregs of society.

The only experience I have with minimum wage is one of my companies. We offer 12 dollars an hour for unskilled labor. That goes quickly to 15 if you are with us for 6 months. I am constantly looking for new employees. I cannot keep a full staff at 15 an hour. Minimum wage is not the problem.

Is it now? So according to you if I’m a business owner and my costs of production increases due to forced wage increases, I will not pass along those costs to consumers? Where in fantasy land do you live that it costs more to create goods and services but prices don’t increase? If everyone is making 7 dollars an hour, and suddenly everyone is making 15 an hour, prices don’t stay at the 7 dollars an hour level. That’s economics 101

Sure he does?

Wages will cause a rise in prices. It varies greatly product to product

Right.

The rise in prices will depend on how much the increase in labor affects the bottom line, or how much the owner can get away with

If labor is a high percentage of the cost, prices will rise more than f it's a smaller percentage.

This is a discussion board on the internet. We are discussing things. And this is a policy they may try to implement here one day, so why not discuss it?

I said that products don't go up in proportion to the increase in minimum wage

If minimum wage goes up 15% do all products go up 15%?

Of course not

You're a moron

Where did he say this?

Look dude I don't know what to tell you. He doesn't have to say it because he said the following:

quote:

Raising the minimum wage is not going to help the poor and the lazy. You know why? Because when you raise the cost of production, the cost of goods and services also rises. The poor person pays for the higher prices out of his wage increase...

If the costs of products don't increase by the same proportion (or more) that your wages increase then you certainly benefit.

If your wages go up 15% and your cost of living goes up 1% that's a win right?
