I'm still mad that Mark Schweiker decided not to run for Governor again for 2004. He was a solid Governor and would have easily won, but he wanted out of politics and in came Rendell. I actually see that as the reason I moved away from PA just a few years later. Everything that Rendell did made that state decidedly worse and less appealing to stay.

Which is exactly why the idiotic ethanol blend mandate should be ended now. But it won't, because hardly a single person in D.C. has the testicles to do what is right.

It’s almost like those yellow areas have high taxes.

Agree 100%. But you'll never beat the farmer's lobby combined with the petro industry lobby...they're both making a killing off of corn additives. As always, follow the money.

While it is detrimental to rubber there is a second problem. Ethanol absorbs water. In this case even 10% or less can absorb moisture from the air anywhere it is allowed to sit in ventilated cans and tanks.

I have paid more for years to run NON-ethanol in all my lawn/property equipment, generator, and such.

Ethanol sucks.

Shapiro does control gas prices but the majority democrat representatives control the tax which is about 30 cents higher on every gallon than the national average.

Ethanol enriched fuel in cars = OK
Ethanol enriched fuel in small engines / boats = Turrible

The addition of ethanol not only reduces the efficiency of the burn, it can leave behind deposits which destroy hoses and gaskets, causing leaks. Cars can handle it because it gets consumed / replaced on a relatively rapid cycle. When you let a lawn mower or boat sit for a few months, the ethanol goes to work. If you ever see a gas station that sells non-ethanol fuel, try it out for a couple tanks...you'll see your fuel mileage go up.
Thank you was never quite sure.

There is a gas station up the road with a green nozzle pump, designed to be ethel free. There is a large boat launch near and they are doing well.

Auto Zone I think still sells a product for mostly boat/lawn mowers to clean the ethel up?

Brand new lawn mowers and weed wackers not starting after sitting all winter, with ethel gas makes sense.

I wonder if the people that make the ethanol-cleaner products for boat/lawn mowers would lobby congress critters?

Did ethanol in gasoline start for climate change global warming or something?

Do you not know how states legislate themselves? Do you not know that states can independently tax the oil and gas industry differently?

What I can't figure out is why gas prices are .40 cents cheaper across the board in Garner and Clayton. I always buy gas when I'm out at my parents house in Clayton.

Holly Springs, Apex and Cary prices are always high. The Circle K right at the 55 / 1 interchange or the Murphy at the Apex Walmart are the only places I've found that are somewhat cheaper in the area.

Not familiar with the area, but it might be related to property value/taxes and other overhead. If gas station A has to pay higher rent than B, they have to recoup that cost somewhere. Same if they have to pay higher wages due to market conditions.
