This is most certainly bizarrely written.

How do you bolster something by maintaining the status quo?

Ok, so what was the voter turnout numbers compared to previous elections? That is the important number to look at.

That seat has as much chance going blue as the Berkeley, California seat has going red.

In case some of us haven't noticed... Newsweek became 'Clickweek' a couple of years ago.
