1. Steve Scalise takes the gavel. (Or some other consensus candidate)
IMO, Steve should’ve been the Speaker from the beginning. He is a staunch conservative in relation to McCarthy, but he’s been extremely effective in Washington.

He can get the support from moderates, and make the majority more effective in governance.

OR
2. Democrats bail out McCarthy.
If this happens MC likely becomes weaker as a speaker, and makes some backroom deals with Dems. They’ll likely try to oust Gaetz or change the rules to more than one to oust.

Nah…he’s now considered a swampy, globalist, uniparty leftist by many on this board. We can’t have such a character as House Speaker.

This is probably the best Gaetz can do, although Scalise is a swamp creature and anything but a staunch conservative. This would be a very minor win.

This is what Gaetz wants to happen.

He already made them to get his spending bill through before the government shutdown...

While I agree 14 years is more than enough in one chamber, hence the need for term limits…

Steve Scalise is not getting primaried. In fact, he might have the safest seat of the Louisiana delegation.

We wonder why Louisiana can't ever get off the mat, then we put these swamp frickers into perennial office. We deserve everything we get and the future ain't looking too bright.

Yep. And we’re about to elect another crook to the Governor’s Mansion. Our only saving grace are the two North Louisiana Representatives — Johnson and Letlow.

Good grief. He is by far the most conservative person we can expect from that district. Remember, Jefferson Parish and the northshore broke for JBE, twice.

1-Scalise would be way better than McCarthy, but in the end it may turn into a watered down version of the same. I could be wrong, but I don’t see Scalise making random side deals with Biden. I saw Gaetz say that some house leadership didn’t even know that McCarthy did that shite, simultaneously with him floating Scalise

2-Gaetz should expand his strategy and pursue someone likeminded to be the whip and/or other House Leadership. I doubt McCarthy ultimately gets evicted. Dude has no shame and is not embarrassed that actual voters loathe him.

When it comes right down to it the SOH needs to be able to get legislation passed. Party leadership’s job is to advocate for conservative positions and make sure those get passed.

The reason McCarthy gets away with his sliminess is bc he gets the blessing of GOPe house leadership.

Gaetz needs to cut a deal with house leadership upon threat of change if he really wants to kneecap McCarthy.

Gaetz will be the dog that catches the truck wheel. He may be viewed by the next speaker as someone who needs to be marginalized. That would be an accurate view from the speaker position.
