Guns are drastically different now than they were in 1776. And the guys who wrote the Constitution couldn't possibly see the consequences industrialization would have on the gun.
Registration wouldn't take away your right to own a gun anyways.

You are a special kind of stupid.

I don't "fear" it. I just see it for what it really it. We have tried more extreme measures of gun control on foreign nations in the recent past. It didn't work even with the full might of the US military behind it. It won't achieve the surface level goal in America either. Only a fool or a devious politician would propagate that lie.

The Abramski case before SCOTUS now is highlighting how worthless the existing NICS is. Basically the Feds have argued that the current system was passed so that the end-buyer could be tracked through maintained FFL records. They then admitted that it is perfectly legal for a buyer to sell that gun private party which means that they really didn't intend to track the end-buyer and that the legislation was compromised from the beginning.

One of the biggest reason anti-gun groups pushed for background checks is that it set a mental precedent that a person had to seek permission from the government to exercise the 2nd Amendment right.
The above was paraphrased from a member of Brady / HCI.

Maryland's 2013 Gun laws that went on the books:
quote:
If you’re a would-be gun buyer, you can expect more stringent background checks. You will be obliged to submit a fingerprint and undergo gun safety training

bans the sale of 45 specific types of assault weapons. In addition to these banned firearms, the law also prohibits Maryland residents to purchase any magazines with more than 10 rounds

In addition to the background checks, there are also mental health provisions included in the law. For instance, those involuntarily committed to mental institutions are barred from owning any regulated firearm and even a shotgun or rifle.
Someone should ask her publicly, how that helped stop the Maryland mall shooting.

Since she is a victim she is exempt from questioning.
At any rate she probably lacks the ability to answer.

Every politician that talks of "gun control" only talks about controlling guns by keeping them from the law abiding citizens. There has yet to be an open conversation by anyone on the left wanting to address the people committing the crimes. Funny how that works.

Are you absofrickinglutely blind to the GOVT actions against lawful gun owners ALREADY going on in parts of the country?
Don't be such a dumbass.

I wish universal gun registration was a plank in the DNC, and they would never stop talking about it.

Why don't we have background checks for everything from knives, silverware, drano, bleach and laundry detergent, otc mediction, food, and kitchen tools so we can "be safe".
Its one short step to confiscation after a registry is made.

But Democrats also say a person shouldn't have to have picture ID to vote.
Democrats say that Republicans shouldn't implement ID checks as a way to reduce D voters.

Is it your contention that this woman, who was blasted in the head by a maniac, doesn't really mean the things she says publicly nowadays about guns and their place in modern society? Poster child, yeah, but wouldn't puppet imply that she is just a mouthpiece? Wasn't James Brady genuinely affected by his near death?
Sad sad puppet for the left...
