Presented without comment. I'm curious to hear the Board's opinion.

I mean, I would hope that he would just detain her but I really have no problem with this. Unprovoked, she struck somebody twice and the other person decided to intervene in defense of others. Which by the way, is legal in Louisiana. Not sure about Minnesota.

Fun to see in a school playground kind of way...but very clearly the complete opposite of professional policing and I predict the officer will be in trouble (and should be.)

If you are assaulting a police officer I think you should reasonably expect but you might get your arse knocked out.

So I'm not entirely sure how one "professionally" knocks an idiot out

It's very obviously emotional policing which I understand but wouldn't condone. Says something about this officer that can't control his emotions. Probably shouldn't be a cop but he may be great in other areas that make up for it. Who really knows. I do find it funny that it was the black cop that overreacted and the white cop, who actually took the shot, just calmly reacted and looked like he was just going to try to detain her and put her in handcuffs. This is pretty consistent with what I know of growing up in New Orleans and dealing with both white and black cops.

If these people think white cops are bad, imagine if all cops were black. Trust me, it would be way, way worse. If you want to know how much worse. Go check out the whole continent of Africa.

Agreed.

There are better (and more painful) ways to take someone like that down from behind that are legal. A good macing to the face or a shot of electrified justice from Lil Sparky would have done just as well without placing the officer's job in jeopardy.

She did deserve it though.

Not sure. It is amazing how quickly people fall back in with not expecting professionalism from police.

The application of violence is never pretty. It's...well, violent. If he had arm barred her and slammed her to the ground you'd have the same people complaining. By the book or not, effective violence always looks bad, especially when 1 person takes the brunt of it.

For example, IF it turns out that what the kneeler cop did was by the book, do you think it will change anybody's mind?

Absolutely correct

Not mine because the bottom line is, guy was saying he was in physical distress and they literally didn't even check him.

When you have someone under your control, you become responsible for their well being. So, frankly, I don't care if the dude choked on a corn dog. Since you're pinning him and he can't help himself, you become responsible for helping him.
