France does what it does best...surrenders

I hardly followed this election but other than her stance on immigration LePen was a socialist through and through, right?

My take is that LePen is a far right socialist. As in far right.

Much of National Rally's base comes from the post-industrial areas of Northern France where the Communist Party was strong, along with areas of Southern France that have been taken over by North African Muslims. Economically, she's to the left of Bernie Sanders, but so is every other mainstream candidate in France.

Nah. In fact, it may not have mattered. I came across some commentary the last few weeks that even if Le Pen won, she would have been suffocated by France's establishment ten times more than Trump was here. She would have been barely able to govern.

One of my favorite internet/youtube personalities, attorney Robert Barnes, is really into handicapping and he did a deep dive the other day and figured it would be a five point Macron win. The establishment there is just really snobby and could not bring themselves to voting for Le Pen. I think it's kind of like brunch set liberals here. The only shot he thought Le Pen had would be if most Melenchon voters stayed home.
