Following intense backlash, Fox News has taken down an op-ed written by executive vice president and executive editor John Moody that was critical of the US Olympic Committee’s attention towards diversity.

In the now deleted piece, Moody wrote that the USOC looked to be trying to change its slogan as it was less concerned with competitiveness and more focused on political correctness:

“Unless it’s changed overnight, the motto of the Olympics, since 1894, has been ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger.’ It appears the U.S. Olympic Committee would like to change that to ‘Darker, Gayer, Different.’ If your goal is to win medals, that won’t work,” he wrote.

“No sport that we are aware of awards points – or medals – for skin color or sexual orientation.”

After the column was taken down, Mediaite received the following statement from a Fox News spokesperson: “John Moody’s column does not reflect the views or values of FOX News and has been removed.”

According to an FNC insider, Moody’s title is basically an emeritus one and he hasn’t formally served in that position for quite a while. The insider also told Mediaite that the column that he submitted didn’t go through the usual vetting process, as editors gave him too much leeway due to his title and time at Fox News.

And people wonder why Fox News is viewed as the home to un-informed racial and social nonsense.

As long as we win, I don't care about diversity in regards to the Olympic team.

I agree, and If I gave a frick about the Olympics I'd be annoyed it was deleted

I mean can you really refute that the olympics have gotten darker gayer and more different?

Lol again I just put the most disingenuous response I could think of channeling my inner retard and y’all upvoted it. This is simpletonville

I almost started a thread about this piece, its worth a good laugh. His whole premise is asinine. Point me to one US Olympic sport/team that you don't have to earn your spot through direct competition.

He's trying to create a controversy of something that literally doesn't exist. I know it's an Op Ed but good grief, Fox News went full retard on this one.

Yes. Which is why this article makes no fricking sense, and all too typical of Fox News reporting. Unless you wanna count the NHL barring its players from participating......

Well, that's correct.

I've seen God knows how many stories about gay Olympic athletes as if it's some sort of barrier in their sport. It's try hard bullshite and it takes away from what the Olympics are supposed to be about.

social non-sense... like sky screaming or marching in a parade with a "pussy" hat?

How about some uninformed racial rioting like hands up don't shoot - that sounds really informed.

What part of this do you have a problem with exactly? Hell, it's 100% accurate.

No, he is wrong. The Olympic committee doesn't choose who goes, it's Direct Competition!

You obviously missed the point he was making.

And you misspelled "competition".
