Sounds like they needed more funding for training.

...and she'll pay the price. It'll be hard for her to work in Walmart much less in a police job for the rest of her life.

Better, actually. Incompetence implies that the cop made a mistake. Intentionally shooting Duante in this case implies someone is literally evil.

Result is the same for dumb frick Duante, sure. But there is a difference.

I don't want cops who can't tell the difference between a gun and a taser. Either fix the tasers or fix the cops. But "Pardon my inadvertent firing into your side." is not a reasonable response.

Wonder if the police woman will get a check from Crime Stoppers as the vast majority of these situations arguably should be receiving them.

I couldn't imagine being a police officer in these crooked times.

In near every case now the media, politicians and 'educational' system hirelings always jump on the Leftist propaganda peddling bandwagon before any of the facts of the matter are known.
It is very interesting how, in near every example, when the case is heard in court and the facts are laid out the 'criminals' that all the aforementioned had labeled them as being walk free and found innocent?
Can you spell propaganda campaign peddling?!!?

Irrelevant to my post. Both outcomes are bad. One is worse.

If you're cool with "Oops, my bad." when a cop accidentally shoots someone instead of tasing them, I agree with you.

At a minimum it's manslaughter. With all their training, it's reasonably negligent homicide. Assuming malice (which is unlikely), it's murder.

The ONLY thing you are correct on is she is guilty of manslaughter. This was unintentional but her actions did result in his death.

But what were the actions that made the encounter with the police get to that point?

Once you start resisting you put yourself in a situation where you are likely to get hurt. No you don’t deserve to die but you CHOOSE to put yourself in harm’s way by resisting.

Would you feel any different if the guy had a heart attack and died after being shot with a taser?

Over time I've come to realize that there isn't a whole lot of evil people in the world. The evil that there is, usually ends up in prison or in Washington DC.

Maybe, but not to the discussion at large.

That's up to a jury to decide. I'm just laying out the options.

Regardless of your opinions on how it should have been handled, when she claimed she was reaching for a taser, she implicitly stated that deadly force was not necessary in her mind.

Questioning why it occurred and the suspect's actions just muddies the water. I already agreed if the man had complied he likely wouldn't be dead.

I wasn't responding to "the discussion at large", thank you very much.

It's the definition of the law. I suppose if you find a woke enough jury you can find her guilty of genocide. But that's irrelevant. She's on tape audibly upset already that she shot him. Tragic? Yes. Murder? Not under state law definitions.

Right, which is why this is manslaughter and not murder.

Pretty sure I stated that seems unlikely. However, if I found out cops were planning out an "I'm going to grab my taser, oh no!" scheme, I would not be surprised. But again, seems unlikely.

Are you disagreeing with Fox's take on the situation? Because I believe it is 100% spot fricking on. Dumb bitch should have known better. Of course, the guy shouldn't have tried running but the cop is fully liable here.

The female officer did not act maliciously , but she was incompetent. It’s not better , and it’s not worse. It’s being taken out of context.

I’m sorry, but a suspect attempting to flee shouldn’t automatically give the police license to execute them. This isn’t Judge Dredd.

Their job is not to defend themselves

Well duh - nobody gets paid to "defend themselves" - their job IS to enforce the law.

But there is absolutely no tactic used that does not take into count at a very high level the protection of the officer - The tactic of 'do not defend yourself' mostly went out of style with the Kamakazi pilots in WWII, but is being revived by the suicide terrrorists from radical Islam. (you know - the ones who, if you say anything negative about, you are labelled a xenophobic.)

the officer saying she thought she pulled her taser is either lying or a complete fricking idiot.

Surely you have not listened to the audio part of the video - or have you even watched it??

She plainly yelled "Taser, Taser Taser" before she fired, and when the handgun fired instead she instantly yelled out some obscenity, and then exclaimed "I just shot someone" - - Elizabeth Taylor could not have duplicated the emotions there.

They noticed afterwards that he actually did have a temporary tag. The vehicle apparently had been purchased very recently.

That’s some Booger McFarland analysis right there.
