But during a question and answer session at a Young America's Foundation event at the University of Iowa, a student demanded to know what, in his mind, had caused Pence to suddenly back down and refuse to block the certification of the election.

'On January 5th, you were convinced that the election was correctly stolen,' a student named Jared said. 'You, Trump, Peter Navarro, John Eastman, and others had a plan on the morning of the 6th to send the certification back to the states. What is the name of the person who convinced you to buck President Trump's plan and certify the votes?'

Pence responded forthrightly: 'James Madison.'

Madison, one of the Founding Fathers and the fourth president of the United States is often considered the 'father of the Constitution.'

Pence then followed up once more as he spoke to the student directly rubbishing his questions: 'Everything you've recited relative to me is false,' he began.

'The Constitution is very clear that elections are to be governed at the state level. The Founders actually made that decision at the Constitutional Convention. And the only role of the federal government was to open and count the electoral votes that were sent by the states.

quote:

'I understand the disappointment in the election,' Pence responded. 'You might remember I was on the ballot. But you've got to be willing to do your duty. And the time may come that some of you are in that position, or one like it. And I just have a feeling based on the shining faces I'm seeing around here you're going to be men and women who do your duty in that time as well.'

Pence also quoted the Bible as guiding his actions on that day recalling: 'Psalm 15 says he who keeps his oath even when it hurts.'

quote:

Earlier this year, Pence said that he and Trump have spoken 'many times' since leaving office but that 'I don't know if we'll ever see eye to eye' about January 6.

A bunch of states asked that the vote be sent back down to their legislature because of massive evidence of voter fraud and they wanted to make sure it got sorted out.

Pence denied the Constitutional rights of the states.

He can go frick himself.

So freaking sad for our country. Trump loses an election and tries to steal it to stay in power. This is how dictators are formed and so many here sadly want this.

It is a shame that so many Republicans want to end our democracy and install a dictator just because they like him more than the other guy.

So the federal government could care less about states rights until they need to pass the blame to the states. Got it.

Stolen elections are how dictators are formed. Look at all the concerted efforts of election fraud and then tell me why it doesn’t at least warrant some type of further investigation ? Why do so many want to close the book on it and move on? If there’s nothing to hide, why not some transparency?

Look at how much liberty has been lost in just 10 months and then talk to me about dictators. These dipshits have been making unconstitutional executive orders and mandates since day one, propped up by laughably dishonest media propaganda, all while being protected from the people by a walled off White House and enough security to fight a war. Which one is the dictator again?

Not one single state did this. Individual and groups of state legislators writing letters does not equal state action.

You know they are lying when they go with “I’m so noble” approach claiming to abide by the constitution.

Burden of proof is on the accusor. And this far after millions spent and countless lawsuits, no major fraud has been found. Believing it exists is based on people hoping it exists and nothing more.

Did you miss the part where the courts wouldn’t even hear the case? Something this important and they punted it on bullshite technicalities. FBI is too busy instigating “insurrections “ and garage doors pulls . Do you see anything fishy there?

It was very likely stolen but we’ll never know because those who can do anything about it don’t care to find out for sure. Why might that be?

You stand up to evil. The problem is he is part of the corrupt system.

The elections were corrupted at the state level (orchestrated at a national/multi-state level). He then certified the corruption to lock it in. He let the people behind the corruption take office and cover it all back up. There is nothing honorable or right out of that situation. To hide behind the constitution is despicable. He knows damn well the people that wrote the constitution wouldn’t have stood for that.

I know your mind is made up and there is nothing that can be done to convince you that Trump is anything other than the Chosen One, but this is exactly what Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are investigating. I know you don't agree, but there are some folks who were Republicans long before Trump came along, and who will be Republicans long after he is gone, who believe Trump set out to steal this election.

Not trying to convince you they are right, just that they too think investigations should occur regarding attempts to steal an election.

Methinks he doth deny too conveniently.

It's one thing to deny the truth, but to lie to oneself is even more pathetic.

Why didn't he make it short and to the point and just admit that he, like the rest of the Repub geldings who had become accustomed to selling Trump out feared that blood would run in the streets were he to effect his constitutionally-allowed responsibility.

Don't tap dance and pirouette around the truth.

Admit that you're afraid of your own shadow.
