It doesn't work that way. Taxes don't create wealth. They may very well create benefits that are worth the tax paid, but wealth isn't grown from protecting an industry that's not competitive without tariffs. Tariffs aren't magic, even when Trump is proposing them.

I really didn't think an F150 could cost more than it currently does.

It's all relative, apparently. Some folks love Ford so much they want to pay more for them, others think their prices are already too high but they want the policies that will increase their costs.

Isn't the whole point of the tariffs to coerce consumers into buying domestic products?

Looks like it isn't working.

LOL

Bless your heart

You do realize that the tariffs aren't going to stay where they are right? I can tell you must be a woman....or a beta man that has never negotiated anything.

You people and your fear mongering....lol. I get it, you hate Trump but don't have any actual good policies to promote, so it is fear mongering and racism....ALWAYS

Why have they raised every year previous to the tariffs?

The narrative of inflation is usually more impactful on prices than actual inflation which relates to lending. You could see this in the margins of public companies. They were expanding after the CARES Act, which virtually never happens in an inflationary environment. Tariffs can’t cause inflation because they aren’t monetary.

you gonna be on suicide watch as bad as Roger will be when we get all these Tariffs negotiated down from where they were initially. Shout and scream now, because there is a time coming very soon to where you will be extremely upset that Trump was, in fact, correct.

You see, the alpha males are taking over now, and we realize that short term pain is worth long term gains....especially when we think of our kids and grandkids. All the bitching, crying, moaning, without taking a objective view that we HAVE to get our trade deficits and barriers in much better shape...or we are doomed eventually. We have someone finally doing it now, and you pussies have such bad TDS that you can't stand him trying to make this country better for the long run.

Just bought a Ford the other day at a rather large dealership. Talked directly to the manager and he said the tariffs will not impact prices.

If Ford raises prices it’s dealerships getting greedy and Trump will take the blame.

Just what was said, right or wrong, who knows.

Both are tools of the left to destroy American exceptionalism.

What does creating wealth have to do with what he said? As more jobs are created and illegal immigration is taken care of, it drives wages up.

Are those industries not competitive due to tariffs of other nations?

The reason why pickup trucks and gasoline engine cars are more expensive is to maximize profits in order to fund EV development. Bullshite on them and other companies.

No, it drives up wages for protected industries. Those wages are subsidized by the consumer who now pays more for the protected product.

People always make these broad claims, and pretend that because Fred got himself a union job at the plant that everybody has more money. You guys will sometimes, and I do mean sometimes, admit that Joe Taxpayer will pay higher prices, then you just "yada-yada, the economy is better and everybody wins." No, everybody does not win.

The whole point of tariffs is rather fluid depending on who you ask and when, and that includes people from the administration.
