I get what you're saying but come on. You can basically see her crotch in that picture.

Maybe I'm missing it, but how does adding skin tight leg extensions to her current uniform cover her crotch?

Yeah I mean they're taking away the entire reason for watching.

Shows less skin around that area.

I don't have a very strong opinion on the matter, but like others have said, the choice should be their own.

I was kind of hoping for string tops complimented by a butt floss bikini bottom.

German gymnasts wore full bodysuits at last week's European Championships in Switzerland as a way of making a stance against the "sexualization" of the sport's female athletes.

And it's been almost 50 years since Cathy Rigby advocated that gymnastics, since it was all about "glorification and exaltation of the human body", should be performed in the nude in Sports Illustrated: NSFW pic

My, how far we've come since the time fascist prudes ran Western society.

I had always figured the issue would be the skin tight vagina covering while doing various splits.

Agreed.

This is a bit of a tangent. But do you take this to mean 'masculinity is toxic'?
I believe the way the phrase is used that it is an attack on traditional masculinity, so in a sense, "yes", I believe it means that masculinity is toxic to these people.

This really doesn't bother me one way or the other as I will not be watching anyway. The girls should wear whatever they feel comfortable performing in.

Ah, well that makes more sense.

Toxic masculinity refers to negative aspects of masculinity that could be toxic, not that masculinity is inherently toxic. I hope that helps!

Thank you for the effort but I know what it is supposed to mean, I just see it applied very differently. Aspects of masculinity that aren't "toxic" are being labeled as such to the point where masculinity, itself, is becoming seen as toxic in our culture.

Then why did you reply with something so wildly different than what it means?

I am fine with women wearing less-revealing gymnastics costumes. Its fun watching feminists become the new Victorians and prudes. It's like as a species we are going through a time of having to re-learn why all the "traditional values" existed in the first place.

Thanks Boomers, for tearing down all of the trad norms.

Next will probably be figure skating.

After that, there will legit be male/male pairs in figure-skating like that Will Ferrell movie. The only people wearing skimpy clothing will all be hairy-legged gaybois and transmonsters.

Because I live in the real world where leftists are moral relativists and postmodern in their approach to truth. They change terms all the time to influence culture and apply words like "toxic" to traditional characteristics that aren't actually toxic except in their worldview.

My initial point was that I hate how these folks make claims of moral repugnance without justification and then apply labels to their repugnance and expect everyone to just accept what they claim is reality.

I didn't give the wrong answer at all. I know what the term is supposed to mean but I also know how it is used (it's practical meaning) in todays culture.

It's not Conservative thought that is at the heart of all these changes to norms and traditions through creating new terms and definitions.
