That's why I don't get this meme. I've seen intelligent people who should know better melt
Perhaps the reactions you're referring to are based on what is or isn't happening now, rather than what might happen in the future.

Yeah, you can. I do financials for the state. Yes, you get money allocated to accounts and subaccounts, but you can easily transfer money to where it needs to be. We do it all the time.

Can't imagine it being different from Federal.

If you're right, then where is all the money going to immigrants and Ukraine coming from out of thin air?

Current Ukraine aid mostly comes from drawdown authority and legislation already programmed for Ukraine (through bi-partisan legislation, remember).

You can't just "move it over to Ukraine" like your personal bank account. In other words, whether we are funding Ukraine or not, the problem is Congress didn't appropriate enough to FEMA in the last budget.

This has nothing to do with supporting Ukraine. Besides, even if you could easily transfer money from one appropriation to another, I can think of several that should come before Ukraine (immigration support, general welfare, certain non-essential public services; these can all be replenished fairly easily in the next budget).

1. You cannot reason with the people on this board. Once they hear a talking point they run with it.

2. The anger over the Ukrainian money is due to the principal of the fact that our government is or at leat it appears to be more interested in helping foreigners than helping Americans in need.

3. IMO the money spent by FEMA on illegal immigrants is a much bigger issue than the money spent on Ukraine. If that money had not been spent it would be available to help Hurricane Helene victims without needing Congressional approval to reallocate it.

4. Biden needs to get off his arse and call Congress back for a special session ASAP so they can pass emergency funding for FEMA and other disaster relief.

Pay everything at home, balance the budget, then if there is anything left, foreign aid.

It has to hurt, being this fricking stupid. FEMA's job is to take care of Americans in the throes of a natural disaster. Yet FEMA spent a billion fricking dollars housing criminal illegals, and you're here to tell us that's just the breaks, and the Americans in peril because of this hurricane just have to suck it up.

I think I speak for all taxpaying Americans when I say frick you, you fricking dirtbag. Here's to hoping mother nature pushes your shite in, and not a fricking soul comes to your aid.

My point is you can't easily take the Ukraine funds and divert it to FEMA.

They drum up billions every time Zelenskyy comes crawling.....
