Point to evidence that Seccession was against the Constitution, or even illegal, prior to th war.
And yes I am proud of my family. Had I been alive I would have gladly joined them in the effort.

Dude so accurate bc IIRC slavery wasn't officially outlawed unilaterally until passage of the 13th Amendment after the war so the USA maintained the "peculiar institution" for roughly 80 years so they're just as guilty as the Confederates, guess we should remove the US flag too. These libs just dismiss logic with all their moral argument BS, it's insane.

I doubt taking down some monuments of Cofederate war "heroes" will make anyone forget they were fighting to preserve chattel slavery.

I grew up in the Richmond metro area. Of course we knew about monument ave and that there were old civil war guys here on there along the road.
Other than that, nothing was ever said about them. There weren't rallies. We never went to "admire" them. Hell, I never even stopped by one because most of them are in the middle of the damn road.
I don't understand why they are so divisive now. Why now?
Having said that, if the people of Richmond vote to take them down and move them then I wouldn't be upset. I'm not a citizen of Richmond and believe in their right to do as they please as long as they get a say.
I would be disappointed because I view this as partly a prog tactic but at the end of the day I'd forget about it quickly. Hell, the museum that takes them will rake in money for a while because they'd be easier to "admire" not being in the middle of the street.

When they turn it into a moral argument in which they are the arbiters of what is right and moral, it really bothers me. They always use the logic of, "Well, I just said this particular thing is immoral so if you disagree with me, you are an immoral, hateful bigot".
It's leftist puritanical ideology 101

Because of radical progressivism and social media.

You know as well as I do that removing a few confederate statues won't quell this movement.

The liberty square monument in New Orleans was a memorial to both sides who fought and died, including NOLA metro police fighting the White League.
Remembering those who died on both sides was controversial I suppose and needed to come down before too many people knew what happened.
75% of New Orleans residents have no idea what happened that day. By removing the memorial that number grows ever higher.

What do you think will happen that will "erase history?"

If I may, do you think the left will stop after statues?

Did you forget what happened when they removed it?
Also, I think it's a little amusing, but mostly sad if we're relying on sculpted stone to teach people about the history of our country.

Yet there were... Union States... with slavery... after the civil war ended.
How could this be possible if the war the Union (the good guys) were fighting the Confederacy (the bad guys) over slavery?

Maybe not, but I'm not going to cry myself to sleep if Robert E. Lee High School decides to change their name, either.

I don't think that's how this is all going down.
Robert E Lee statue in city x isn't saying "frick it, I'm out".

Its much easier to create your own story when it all of the memorials fit into a nice neat narrative.
Kind of like MLK being an adulterer or Ted Kennedy being a murderer. Facts are pesky things.

No, they'll go after history books next if we permit them to, all that re-education shitt

You find it hard to believe that only certain portions of history are being taught to "set the record straight"? Come on man...
