A friend of mine from Denmark, notorious for their social welfare, sent me a message asking wtf we were doing before if we're only just now implementing work requirements. He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that we didn't have them before. Think about that. A country with one of the most robust welfare programs in the world was floored that WE were giving shite away too easily.

There should almost always be work requirements in some form or fashion, with a few exceptions.

The real sad part is there were times in my early life that I needed help for my young family and didn't qualify because I was just barely over the limit working 70 hour weeks or my wife wasn't a single mother.

Yep. Anyone who has ever been involved in hiring for minimum wage jobs is familiar with people who don't want to work more than a certain number of hours so they can keep their benefits. They can calculate it to the hour.
